I am mushy and I don't like it any more. I want to lose one pound a month in 2011--and not the same pound twice! Anyone else interested in some moderate weight loss? I'm not going on a diet, just going to stop eating the wrong foods, which have crept back into my diet while I've been over-extended with work and school. I can fix that by keeping more carrots and celery in the house and swearing off chips!
So, I'll check the scales the first of every month. If others do, too, that will be great.

I'm in! I'm exactly in the same boat. I gain weight slowly but steadily over the winter and I want to stop that trend in its track this year. I even signed up on SparkPeople.com, a free website I found on COTH. You enter your current weight, your "goal weight" and it tells you how long it's going to take (till March 3rd for me) and offers "meal plans" and exercise tips you can follow. It's time consuming right now since I want to enter everything I am normally eating to get an idea of how good/bad my diet is, and the foods I am eating don't seem to be in their search engine already! Darn it! I'll probably have to do that for a week or so. I've just started so I still have a lot to discover on the website.
But if I can come on here as another "checkpoint" then it's even better!

Great. My daughters have already told me not to be ridiculous about this, and I won't be. I don't even want to be too serious. But I just think if I respond to the snack cravings with something other than cookies and chips I'll be fine. I do hate to exercise, but if the weather isn't too bad, I should walk more and drive less. That's not a reliable plan in January!

1/2/11 - 128 lbs 2/3/11 - 125.6 ( I guess I actually lost weight in France, even with all the chocolates and pastries!! Or, maybe it's all that SHOVELING I've been doing since I've come home...the snow bank is higher than me and I have to throw snow over that.)

128!?! Okay, in my defense, may I say that I am about three feet taller than Claire. LOL! Yes you are MUCH taller than me, Ann. Extra pounds show right away on me. Can't get away with much Ok, Yoga today was not very good. Lots of talking and awkwardly flowing moves. I will go back to my regular Ashtanga yoga next week. I know what you mean about walking in January! Even Stella thinks I'm crazy. On very cold days, she'll go a little ways then she'll just old her paws up in the air, one after another. So I take pity on her and I turn back. I will NOT put booties on her. ;D

I have 15 lbs to lose, and unfortunately I cannot get back into the gym for another 4 weeks. I'm in though if I have to post my weight in public that might keep me from eating junk while I'm layed up. I use caloriecount.com to record everything I eat. It keeps track of calorie intake as well as nutritional value, and gives you a grade on how well you eat. It also has a feature that you put in the ingredients of a recipe, and the # of servings and it gives you calories per serving and nutrition value. Very helpful to keep track of how you eat. So here goes
1.2.2011- 145 lbs
2.2.2011- 146.5 lbs can't tell I have been laying around eating!!
3.3.2022- 146.5 lbs AND I have been working out and cutting calories!!! I don't understand it =(
4-1-2011- 148.2 lbs. I think this is as thins as it gets?!?!?

Good girl, Lisa. You take care while you heal and the gym can just wait.
I cannot count calories. If I had to do that, I'd just fail. I have to keep it simple and general--no junk food or processed foods or empty calories. When I crave peanut M&Ms, I make a lovely cup of tea!
My youngest daughter has lost 40 pounds by exercising regularly and being very conscious of what she eats. She put us all to shame over the holidays!

So, I'm topping you gals by far . Here it is, my post Christmas extra 5 pounds weigh in. 165. There. I said it. I'm in once I get a full night's rest which hasn't been since before Christmas. I'm ready to stay in a hotel for a night -no kidding! . Sounds like excuses, but I need my energy to forgo sugar as my substitute for caffeine as a substitute for sleep. That said, I was getting in good shape when I was working my tail off everyday the month before my friends and I held our show. I want to be back to that!

OK, I'm in! 135 for me. At barely 5'4", I'd like to get back to my 125 lbs if at all possible. For some reason it seems I haven't been able to get below 130 for some years now though. I don't lose weight on diets at all, no matter how strict I follow them - so I don't do them. Eating less, and healthier, and exercising more are the plan. Although I'm still recovering from a broken foot, so exercise is limited. And I have 3 horses to ride after a regular 9 hour workday, so it's not like I have a lot of time to exercise at all.... And to top it all off, i LOVE to sleep (besides eating and riding my favorite thing), so forget about getting up an hour earlier to hit the gym.... sigh. We shall see what this year brings. I hope I can lose 1 lbs a month for you guys though!
Luci, I think you should just put on another show!!!!

Yay! More people! Yes counting calories is very, very annoying. I think eating less, and better, is key. Use smaller plates, smaller portions and avoid Brussels cookies at all cost! lol
So, what didwill you guys do for exercise today?
I walked Stella for 45 mn in our local park. The paths were as slick as a rink. Good balancing exercise too!

Yea! Sarah is in Yes, cleaning up Hunter with Chelene and painting standards! It was good hard work and apple and some cheese, veggies were satisfying because it was so hot. It was perfect for dropping some pounds. Niaru, was Stella holding up her paw at the icy walk? That image is so cute.

Luci and Sellington, welcome!
Lisa, clothing sizes baffle me. As long as it feels right and looks good, the number doesn't matter to me. I remember a friend who was very unhappy about gaining weight in pregnancy. Her mom took her shopping for new jeans, snipped out the size 14 tag and said, "There. Now it's a 6." That was a long time ago, but it still makes me laugh to think of it. And it really did change my thinking about sizes, too!

I use it as a measurement tool. I know where I was, and where I am now. Weight is the same too. They say the # doesnt matter as long as you are healthy, but everyone want to see a certain # when they step on the scale, and when the can wear a bertain size!!!
