PS. Still my all time favorite named TB is Martha Calling, a 1995 grey TB gelding. Martha is his barn name, and it honestly fits him perfectly! I showed him as Martha Calling too, I adored that name, and really didn't care if no one else liked it. That's so true Michelle! I toyed around with changing his barn name, but after being with him for a few days I realized that he really is a Martha. I get questioned about it all the time and, like you said, I really don't care what everyone else thinks. Once you really get to know the big guy you realize that he's Martha through and through. The other lady at my barn that I ride with the most often commented on that last week. She said "you know, his name really does fit him, doesn't it?" Riley's JC name was Fab Do. OMG!!! There was no way I was going to stick with that. Somehow the name Riley just came into my mind and it fit. I showed him under "Living the Life" because he really did live the life of Riley. I also called him Weasel and Punkin sometimes. Billy (aka Ponypotomous) came with his name and he comes running full bore when you call it. How could I change that? And he really is an ornery little Billy, just like all those little boys we knew in elementary school. No thoughts on show names yet, although I may need to come up with something as I've been dared to show him W/T this summer. Wonder if I could show him under Ponypotomous? LOL!!!

I have to tell you that I have borrowed Ponypotomous from you as one of Oz's alternate names . He is my little ponypotomous (also my little pony face p- p- p- pony face a la Lady Gaga ;D.) Especially after the day the vet just ran his fingers along Oz's plump side and gave me the "look" without saying a word, the barn owner and I have been trying much harder to keep him at a better weight.

Kelly, are you in Colorado? Is Drifter one that Einstein had then? I was in love with one that she had for a while. Yup, that's that Drifter! ;D I was tagging along with a friend who went to try some of M's sale horses. My friend rode I think two of them and the whole time Coop was standing quietly tied to the horse trailer. I was really smitten with him. My friend had no interest in Coop (felt he was too small) so M asked if I'd like to hop on after she rode him. Loved him, but was not shopping. M called me up a few weeks later to see if I knew anyone that wanted him at his new price. Hung up the phone and thought, "I want him!" Oh I'm so glad!!!! I fell for him just from the pics and description. So now I know who Drifter is! Would love to see some photos of the guy.

See? It was stuck in my head too one day and pony was substituted for poker! Oz liked hearing pony a lot so it's one of his songs.

I kept Mister's barn name because it just kind of fits him. I eventually found out his JC name is Sir William Lewis, which is just far too pretentious for him. He is way more of a pizza-and-beer kind of guy. His USEA name is Flying Circus, because he was quite silly and ridiculous wen I got him. He just dodged the bullet of being named Tim The Enchanter from Monty Python's Holy Grail. He just isn't a Tim.
My little gray TB's JC name is Swinging Romeo (which I hated); I called him Robin. He is now living in CA and going by Gatsby.
My first horse's AQHA name was Hoot Wing Walker, apparently after a California mountain man. His barn name was Hoot, and he worked it.

Oooh I sure hope the USEA accepts Moc's new name, hahahaha!
I am one of the non-creative ones. Charm's registered name is Your So Charming (yes that's the spelling they used) and Lulla's is Bucks Lullaby. I wanted to use Leila for her but it never stuck, for some reason!

Niaru, I hope she gets that name too! I think she might, I can't believe many people will know what it actually means.
Funny about Poker Face. That song was playing in the shed row ALL SUMMER (the guys loved it and cranked it up on the super duper stereo system they brought in) and always seemed to be on when I was on Moc. I'd do a turn or two around on her singing to the song to her, grabbing her neck up by her poll and letting her fart and buck around the shed row. I told Samantha yesterday naming her Poker Face did cross my mind! She has a very unique blaze and color, and that song will always remind me of the summer I had galloping her before she became mine.

Niaru, I always have loved Charms name. When I'm on a really tough, patience trying TB galloping I usually say,"Goodness aren't you charming?!" I always thought Your So Charming was a great name!

Our horses came with their names and were all too old to change them. Steel's jc name was Misty's Silver Streak, out of Sams Ransom and Mistys Finale. I often wondered why he ended up as Steel as opposed to Silver. I sometimes called him Fabio since I didn't conform and pull his mane. BF's horse is a 23yo walker named Ramsey which is part of his registered name, Ramsey Quality. DD's qh came with the name Mandi. I'm pretty sure she is registered as she is the epitome of a reg. qh but I don't have her papers or her name. Tab plans to show her under the name Mandiline Rose this summer. Going tomorrow to look at a retiring lesson horse, an OTTB named Ben. Don't know his jc name yet and since he is 19 he is probably too old to rename. Therefore, if he is THE ONE, I plan to call him Boring Ben. He is a cute bay, but his name is boring. Someday I will actually get to name a horse....lol.

Good luck on Ben! Boring Ben might just morph into Beautiful Ben --I had a Joe, Clay, and Rudy in my past so there was no way Oz was going to continue as Roy. Navegante Gold became Nave (Na veh) when my H/J trainer told me she couldn't spit out all of the syllables of Navegante and I had to do come up with something she could pronounce. I had no problems with his name after living in Italy ;D The woman who bought him renamed him Morrie and that is a perfect name for such a loving goofball with a playful personality. Love Inspired Floozy! That's pretty funny for a J.C. name and memorable if announced over a PA. What will you show her under?

Ok..I've had sooo many. My first pony, Fantasia (barn name, Fanny) who was a 14.1 hand paint mare, was bought by my dad at the local sale barn, she was only a year old. We named her but can't remember why. Since she was young, my mom then went to a local Amish farm and bought me my shetland pony, Jake. When I outgrew Jake, we went back to the salebarn and saw a cute little head laying up over the back of a work horse and little white stocking legs underdeath. There were about 5 work horses and my "Goldie" who was a 12.2 paint pony all piled in a stall. She became "Golden Opportunity". After I outgrew her, I started showing Fanny.
Later, Fanny became injured and I purchased my first TB who had the JC name Midniteperspiration (April Axe x Intimate Diner) He was a grey. He is now reqistered withthe USEF as "The Real Deal" and goes by Bleu at the barn. He now gets called "Grumpy Old Man"
I then went to the track my Laughalittle to look at a horse for her, and I came home with "Unbridled Tempo"(Unbridled line x Dance Tempo)...wasn't supposed to happen, but she was young and grey and I was in love =) Since she was a girl, I bought her pink things to wear and started showing her under the name "Pretty in Pink", and called her Chiqui at the barn. After showing a few times under that name, I felt it was too kiddish, and needed something a little more showy, so she is now shown under "Gotcha Beat."
Then along came Luke. I was fostering him for a rescue, and ended up adopting him. He came with his barn name and his JC name was "Stalker Man"...he was used as a dressage horse and prett much hated it and was a nervou nelly all the time. I started doing hunters with him and he has became one of the best ponie ever! So...since Stalker name freaked me out, and he kinda had a secret calling for the hunter ring...He is now shown under "Dirty Little Secret"
Now, I also have Lexington's Pik who goes by Lexie at the barn. Her breeder had her named and registered so I didn't get to name her. I wanted to call her Pixie. Still looking for a better show name to show her under locally. A few I like, 1.) Don't Think Twice. 2.) Pik the Rhythm. Any other suggestions?
I've had other horses as well, but these are the main ones. Fantasia has 3 babies, the first two were by the same sire, and they both were paints. I tried naming them all after poker terms...Ace in the Hole(Thunder), Lil' Pierre (barn name, Pierre-which really has nothing to do with poker) and then her last one who was by a different sire, was Luck of the Draw(Lilly). I had all 3 babies here, but have found homes for them. They all still have their names.

I never thought I would, but the more I get to know her (we're going on three years together now) the more I realize that she needs a quirky name.

All of ours came with their names, which all came from their registered names. Flash was short for his JC name, Flash Your Cash. Shari's JC name is Shari Lee. April's AQHA name is Shy Eyed April. Sugar is our grade mare that the kids ride and that's the name she came with and it totally fits. She's good as gold!
The only one we named was Bella, who was born here. Her registered name is Bella Regazza, which means beautiful girl in Italian. What we should've name her was Pushy Brat! LOL

Dontdropthebacon was JC name, and I called him Cujean, elegant fancy bay boy.
Horn (I'm serious) JC name, somebody was punishing this horse, I called him Sylvester.

Chausser Tresor - Czar
Starship Rainbow - Jasper
Go Grant Go - Grant
Luthers Vendetta - Louie
QH/Paints
Delux to the Max - Max, just kept the name he came with.
Speck Western Sky - Joker, my pride and joy barrel horse, he is always doing something he shouldn't be.
