Haha good! I was good and had goldfishy crackers for breakfast instead of the cookie I usually grab on my way out the door. I went to CFA and only got the 8 pack and small fries. Go me! I'm getting there...gotta stop supersizing everything...

So . . . .I'm out of the diet closet. I'm well enough on my way to admit I've been cutting back and eating more like I used to. Time to quit looking like

*sigh*
I'm new... so sorry for just popping in.
I'm needing to lose around 50 to 80 pounds.
For the past 2 or 3 years I've just been gaining and gaining little by little, but during the last year I've gained over 50 pounds, and was up to 215 lbs.
I'm desperate to lose weight so I can be in shape for the future. Plus... it will help me when I get the vet's job, as well as help with the stables here.
At the moment I'm doing Atkins... though it's a VERY loose type of Atkins. And so far I've lost 10 lbs in half a week.
So I'd like to join to get a lot of encouragement.

Welcome to the boards! We're all right here pulling for you. It is a struggle but I find if you can stick to even a modified diet, you should probably still see results. I'm struggling to get the last 5 lbs off so I have increased my exercise demands and fortunately when I get really hot, I loose my appetite! Good luck! Sounds like you are on the right track.

Serbrider: How much water are you drinking each day?? If you consciously drink a BIG glass of water before eating anything, that will definitely help curb the appetite. What type of exercise have you tried or actively doing? (I'm a personal trainer...my opinion "personally" is that adhering to any sort of fad diet isn't good for the body. Your body does need certain carbohydrates that Atkins doesn't allow you to have. Just stay away from processed flour and yucky, fatty starches. You really should be eating whole grains/brown rice/oatmeal.... We can discuss more if you want. )

Well...somehow since Christmas, I've pulled off 15 lbs. I'm not sure HOW, but I'm glad. I'm now only about 5 lbs from where I'd ideally like to be, but I think I'm probably at a healthy weight right now. How's everyone else doing?

I had that problem too. I worked out and ate little but could not lose the weight! I tried a product called Isagenix. It has an all natural cleansing product that removes toxins from your body (they say thats what keeps the fat cells hanging on) It was amazing. they also have a shake meal replacement plan. I did it for 30 days and lost 20 pounds but it was not hard on my body. All the products are organic and have not wheat, glutin or dairy for those who are sensative. If you would like to hear more send me a PM.

I'm tall and of a healthy weight, but I easily gain it if I sit on my rump for too long. No one would ever tell me I had to lose weight and it's all in my head, but honestly, even if I am still skinny 10 lbs later, I CANNOT afford to get new clothes. I don't want to gain weight anyways, but I have plenty of clothes and need to fit into them. Clothes are expensive and buying a whole new wardrobe in a different size isn't an option for me.
I know we are all stressed on time, and now the days are getting shorter. I used to run and bike a lot but now with my schedule and the new horse I barely do it. But I try to walk with my mom whenever I can. Walking is incredibly good for the body. And if you can find a buddy to do it with, it can be a great time to unwind, and I generally come back from my walks feeling lessed stressed and not really hungry.
Also, I won't eat out. Maybe every three weeks I will. Its hard to be social and not eat out, so if I meet up with a friend I try to eat before I go. But I figure no matter how badly I mess up at home, it's not as bad as eating out so I never feel too guilty.
Filling the house with healthy food and bringing healthy snacks with you whever you go really helps.
Too bad I don't live close to any of you, I'm all for having a support buddy for this!

Elizabethann, I agree on the clothes! When mine get a little tight or don't fit as well I know it's time to watch my diet/exercise level.
It's much harder in the winter, when it's cold I want to eat, and I usually go for comfort foods (chocolate, etc. instead of my usual baby carrots)! And I can't ride my bike or walk everywhere like I do in summer.
But walking the dog helps. My neighborhood is hilly, and walking those hills at a good clip makes me sweat! I used to take the dog to the beach but it's flat there, and not challenging enough lol so now I take her in the woods.
You are so right about not having junk food in the house, period, and not eating out. Right now I am devouring Haribo gummy bears at night...gotta STOP. BUYING. THOSE! And stop drinking wine...lol

Oy...can we start this back up? Maybe make a new motivation thread?
I'm back up...I need to lose 20 lbs. I went to get my license renewed today, and I'm definitely 25 lbs heavier than I was. Youch. But I didn't update my weight, so my goal is to lose all that weight by Christmas. Now that I'm not doing barn work for a job, I've gained weight.
I'm tall, so it really doesn't look like I've gained 20 lbs, but I know that I have and it makes me mad.
Niaru - funny you should say that..there's a bag of gummy bears on my steps right now. Will. Not. Open.
