I haven't been doing so well. It's been a ridiculously crazy couple of weeks. I can't keep this pace forever, and it's only the fourth week of school!!
However...I've discovered that a little bowl of granola fills me up in the morning, and is relatively healthy. So I'm getting there...

I'm doing pretty good this week, but I am so sore from a new workout routine! Previously, I've been working out about 30 minutes a day 4-5 times a week for the past few years and eating relatively healthy, but it just hasn't been cutting it. I think I must have bad genes. Anyways, watching my mother go through diabetic complications has really motivated me, so I started this workout that is 1 - 1 1/2 hours a day, 6 days a week. It's pretty hardcore, but I am hoping to finally see some changes.
Dietwise, I've been doing pretty well, but I still need more protein. I don't really like animal products in general (eggs, dairy, and I don't eat meat), but I am trying to eat more dairy and egg whites... bleh. This all wasn't so hard when I was in my 20's, it makes me really dread hitting my 40's, 50's, and beyond....

WooHoo Gemic! You go girl! I'm doing pretty good, with a slip here and there. I've lost 5 pounds so far. Which is probably just water weight I'm gonna keep on trucking. ;D Got the Sugar Solution book in mail the other day. It also came with handy glycemic index chart with it. I will try to post that for everyone later today.

I've lost 43 pounds so far. 10 more to lose before I reach my first goal. Then I reset my goal for another 30 pounds!

Gemic, your post was inspiring. good for you!
i've been bad, well, not horrible....i have been losing some pounds (i think a grand total of 2 so far....). but my life is so disorganized, i've only been able to focus on portion control, and basic nutrition stuff (ie, get protein, fruits and vegetables).
tomorrow is a new day....and i get to cook for myself tonight, which i havent done since some time in august. yay! and next week, i move into a temporary apartment, so i will be able to cook for myself and bring my own lunch to work, instead of living on tuna sandwiches from the PX. sigh....

For some reason, I haven't been eating much lately. I just haven't been hungry. I doubt I've lost weight though...that's just my luck.
I've been trying to eat at least 2 healthy meals a day, and if I eat the third unhealthy, well, at least I'm taking baby steps...

Just remember one of the ideas of a glycemic diet is to keep your blood sugars level. "grazing" responsibly is better than eating less. Most of my diets have so much food I have to space it out to eat it all. If you don't eat enough your body "crashes" as your blood sugar drops. Having a yogurt, wrap, or apple in between meals helps keep things steady.
Goalie or Brooks, could we have a topic for recipes or meal ideas? =)
