I've spent all day on websites analyzing my diet, and although it is "healthy", it is high carb, low protein, and low fat. I've made a list of food to go buy, but it is going to be a major change for me - tons of cottage cheese and eggs and nuts. Oh well, I might as well try it at least...Diabetes runs on both sides of my family, so I guess it is a change I need to make...
My plan is 5 meals a day, sounds similar. It's from Million Dollar Body which is the only one I've found that gives you a real vegetarian option.

Interesting OneDay, the program I chose through ediets is Eating for Life and it's 6 meals a day. Wonder if it's related. Gemic, yes. Eating for Life is Bll Phillips eating portion of the program. Does eDiets detail the workout plan for you as well? I suggest checking out the Body for Life as well as Eating for Life books - both written by Bill Phillips. I think this is hands down the most successful program I've seen. I have seen so many amazing results. A great forum with good people and good information is www dot bodyforlife-tracker dot com Feel free to PM me if you're interested in any information.

Hmmm...Body for Life sounds interesting OneDay, I'll have to check it out!
I wasn't too horribly bad over the weekend. I did have some french fries yesterday, but only a small portion. I have ordered a book from Prevention called The Sugar Solution. The literature for it sounded much like what we are trying to do so I thought it could help all of us!

Ediets offers a workout also, but you have to pay more for it. I didn't use it much last time so I opted not to do it this time. Instead, I have 3 horses to take care of daily, a treadmill, and my Nick is helping me with a weight workout.

I've been very, very bad today, but it's also been a terrible day. Food tends to be a comfort for me. However, I haven't had any pop to drink, so I'm proud of that. Baby steps, baby steps...

Yesterday: Whole grain bagel and apple juice for breakfast Stuffed chicken breast for lunch 1 slice of pizza for dinner Didn't drink my 24 oz of water! Had a really good ride on Boy, so I'm pretty sure I burned up a lot of that.
I could have done better, but didn't have any french fries or chips or anything. I will do better today!

Where can you find what to eat. I see where you see the Index for each food, but how much are you supposed to eat in a day.
I want to join.
I'll start today: 1 c. low fat yogurt 2 nectarines 3 c. coffee 32 oz water 1/4 of some sort of homemade oatmeal/flax clif bar wannabe
1c Stir fry (chick peas, zucchini, onions, garlic) 100 calorie pack cookies grapes

I don't know that you'd find such a list without joining a weight loss program. The amount you eat varies person to person. I could get you an estimated calorie count per meal if you want. I have to do it through my diet plan.

I have managed to wean myself off soda. I looked at the ingredients on a can of diet coke one day and totally cringed. I don't want to be pouring chemicals down the hatch all day.
Started by mixing some fizzy seltzer with a bit of juice - cranberry, cherry and pomegranate are my favorites - and now subsist happily of Klarbrun and St. Croix flavored fizzy water.
Feel better too. For what it's worth.

So, other than South Beach, has anyone tried one of the glycemic index cookbooks that are out? Can you recommend any with a good range of meals?? Between needing to get in better shape (cringe -- Air Force Physical Fitness test in a month combined with working 10-12 hour days) and a diabetic husband, I keep looking for ways to improve our diet. DH's approach was to get a insulin pump -- a thin catheter adds insulin to his system at a base level over the day, and he adds extra when he eats.... Then he eats whatever he wants. Think a half gallon of ice cream and lots of chips every week. But I have switched us to brown rice and a few other healthier mini-steps. And when I feel de-motivated, I repeat my little mantra.... Just for today, I will be Healthy, Active and Fit! See, I don't always have to be good, just today..... whenever I decide that it starts.

I have ordered the Sugar Solution from Prevention. I don't know when it's supposed to get here but I'll be happy to share it's contents. I think another thing that might help me is I'm going to do the Dual Action Cleanse thing and get rid of all the stuff that has accumulated in my colon over the past 37 years. www.officialdualactioncleanse.com/default.aspx?adid=ggl4001Someone I work with did this and he lost 13lbs in one week and he said that he felt better and had more energy. You can get it at Walmart I believe for $40 and do it every other month (if you feel you need too, I think I will do it for one month). He said he was really skeptical about it, but then said he was really glad he did it.
