Haha, I will. But I REFUSE to cut Chick Fil A out of my diet. No way, no how! I love that place too! So glad I'm not close to one anymore!

Okay, maybe first we should all name our number one weakness in food (i don't mean fast food, I mean actual food you buy at the store and eat at home, in excess). Then we can resolve to cut down on that item. My biggest weakness is pasta- big bowls with butter and parmesean cheese.
Maybe we should start this diet in steps so we don't feel like we are cutting all the good stuff out right away. Things like resolving to drink more water, eat a veggie-only lunch, go one week without candy, have a fruit for dessert, walk one mile (or 2!). What else can we resolve to do, and keep each other posted about?

Kim, BHK i KNEW there was a reason i liked you two....chick-fly (as i used to call it) is an all time great. is that an ohio thing? oh, waffle fries, why do you forsake me so? uh, and hokiethea....ONE weakness in food? ahahahaha.... but i love your ideas. i agree. let's begin!! i think my number one weakness with food (aside from fast food and eating out in general) is portion control. my portions are TOO BIG. my second weakness is that i'm a food vacuum. if there's an extra smidge there...NOOOO problem....extra doughnut lying around...i'll suck it down! my third problem is eating regularly. i don't live at home during the week, so i either eat out before i get to where i'm staying, or i eat what they're eating. they're both DAMN good cooks who eschew anything diet. problem 4 - wine consumption. DBF and i, as a rule, don't really drink. if we grill, perhaps we'll drink a beer or a glass of wine. the two that i live with during the week are close friends, so we crack open some wine and giggle the night away. sigh....that could be "portion control" too....

OMG Sarafina! You and I are so much a like it's scarey! My biggest problem is portion control AND going back for seconds! Plus I eat too late at night. Fast food goes in spurts for me. I'll have it every day for week and then go a month before I have it again. Hmmm... I think my first goal will be to cut the fast food and eating out to once a month. I don't drink much, just a drink here and there every couple of weeks.

Okay, out-of-whack portion control is a given!! I also have the same problem, finishing that last bit of food in the pan after dinner. Must stop!!
Thank goodness I don't drink alcohol, except on vacation. Doesn't a strawberry daquiri count as a fruit serving!!??
Okay, I resolve for this week, to drink 24 oz of water a day (of course I'll be the Pee Queen!), and not have any type of pasta for lunch. I will stick to a Lean Cuisine or a salad with chicken.

Oh my gosh Sarafina...I'm more like you every day, I swear! Even down to my major!! haha. I don't drink (obviously), but portion control is a big one for me. I also eat fast, and eat while distracted, like watching tv, etc. I eat late at night too. That's what, 4 strikes for me? haha...I'm not overweight, but I'd like to shed some of the 30 pounds I've gained this year. I'm with Thea, I'm going to drink 24 oz of water a day! I've probably had at least that already...I did one thing right!

Just to give you guys some things to consider. My diet is broken up into 6 "meals" a day. Each one has a calorie count I have to go by. Breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, dessert. Salads (lettuce, tomato, cukes) are considered "free" foods, don't count towards my calorie count. If you like pasta. When we have spaghetti, we have a salad while it cooks, then we eat our serving of pasta and it fills you up better. Size matters. When you grab a big bowl and put in a serving size, you feel like you aren't eating. Try a smaller bowl or plate and you'll feel like you're eating more. My recipe thing is from www.livingcookbook.com/ . I actually bought Dietpro which has a "calorie bank" exercise thing and more. Both versions are avaiable for demo trials. Dietpro includes the cookbook. If I ever get my desk cleaned off enough, I'll scan in one of my recipes so that you can see how it is displayed. But basically you enter your ingredients, procedure, then under "nutritional information" it has a calculate tab that figures out what each serving is worth. You can make meal plans and print out shopping lists also I think. You can also copy a recipe from a website, then just click which part is name, servings, ingredients, procedure and the program fits it into place. I'm also signed up with www.ediets.com . Through them I have access to some recipes. I have a weekly weigh in that helps keep me motivated, access to a nutritionist, and I've passed my mom which is using Nutrisystem. Main thing about a diet is that its a frame of mind and a lifestyle change. Instead of ordering pizza now, we make our own. My breadmachine makes dough, then we add a certain sauce, lowfat cheese and different toppings. A quarter of a pie makes a nice serving size and if we're still hungry we have salad. Good luck everyone!

To lose weight I went gluten free - I have got an intolerence to it and since kicking it out of my diet I feel fantastic.
I have also gone meat free - mainly cos I love animals and also because of the crap that meat and chicken contains..... I had a lady describe how they kill chickens. I am still eating fish for now but hopefully that will be my next step.
I have lost 10 kilos and takeaways are out of the question cos they all have gluten or meat or are horrendously expensive.

Okay... I will also promise to drink at least 24 oz of water a day and no more soda! I have been much better and started drinking diet soda, but I'm going to cut all of it out. One weakness of mine is a Mt. Dew in the morning to wake me up.

I love Mtn Dew. I've compromised. I get the little cans, only allow myself one when hubby has a night shift, and only if I'm on track for my diet. I'm I have a diet slump I can't have the soda.

So how's everyone doing so far? I drank more than my 24oz of water and kept my portion at dinner small and didn't go back for seconds. I had a chicken salad wrap for lunch and a whole grain bagel for breakfast. I feel thinner already... I'm starving right now!

Yummy breakfast... 1/2 english muffin 1 slice low fat cheddar cheese (Kraft makes one that's 50 cal.) 2 slices turkey bacon (35 cal each) 1 or two slices tomato (I usually save the tomato for a salad later in the day)
It's actually kind of filling and helps me get to the next meal.
Also, lunch... Tortilla (walmart sells one that has only 50 cal.) 2 oz chicken (we put mexican spice on it) shredded cheese salsa 2 tbs sour cream
Very tasty!

yesterday was okay until dinner.
i had coffee with 1% milk, a slimfast (i make them myself) and some grapes for breakfast.
mid-morning snack was half a meal bar. was busy over lunch, so i pulled the meal bar back out of my lab coat pocket and mowed the rest while i did a consult with my treatment team (dummy me, not making time to eat).
afternoon snack was an apple -- a BIG one.
then, all hell broke loose. got home and had a glass of wine with my friend, and we went out to dinner. 2 pieces of bread with olive oil and cheese salad bar (um, let's just leave it at that) a glass of red wine a cup of lentil soup one chicken breast parmesan. buuurp. i saved the pasta side, and the other breast for some other dinner. i TRIED for portion control, but it didn't exactly happen.
tonight my friend is cooking beans and rice. and i LOVE them...today is a new day...today is a new day....

But but but wine is GOOD for you! In moderation of course, and not Rosé or Whites because they usually have a lot more sugar in them.
I have a hard time eating breakfast. I don't know why. I have 2 small cups of coffee and that's it. Then I try to resist eating until lunch because snacking is what kills, no?
*sigh*.
If only stores would sell "regular" size dinner plates and not those huge dinner PLATTERS! It would make portion control much easier. I actually use the dessert plates at times, but they're a tad too small.
Lessee, what did I have for dinner last night...oh yes, hafter a hard cider, I had Spaghetti with crushed tomatoes and olives, and a cone for dessert while watching the US Open. Then I had a Nutella sandwich. And an apple. It's anarchy I tell you.
