People in real life call you Moo? How did that start? It's a funny nickname ;D
I was really skinny in high school (think 5 foot 9 and less then 100 pounds) to the point where kids made fun of me, no reason why, I was, and still am, the junk food queen! Anyway, in HS everyone called me Moose.
I think I like Moo better, keeps ya guessing!

LOL yes all my friends call me Moo. Even my professors! They call me Mylene too.. but Moo kinda stuck Plus its easier to say. ( Not that my friends shouldnt know how to say my name right!) Anyway, It started with a stupid knock knock joke, that ends with MOO! , then got added to my name, Mylenimoo, then just Moo, and a thousand deriviations from that : BF Moo, Hermi Moo, Shmoo, Shmoo moo boo boo, Moostink, Stinky Moo ( ok none of these are flattering and I SWEAR I DON'T SMELL!), more like a barn thing, come on .. you all emphathise. Moosabi,Mooberry, Moo squared, Moolicious...I could go on.

Tiptoeing back in from my Self-Imposed Exile! I'm 37 - we live near Dallas. I work part-time doing graphic design, part-time growing plants for sale, and part-time at finding a real job with benefits. I was out of the horse thing for many years but returned - woo hoo! - last year. I fortunately found the Exracers group then. Our zoo includes: Adair - 8 year old unraced TB who was mysteriously still green-broken. He is basically a big dog in a horse suit. He is doing lots of round pen work right now to prep for his big training kick-off this spring. Still rather a mystery boy who would happily be a (literal) backyard horse, he is a 15.2 bright bay who is supposed to be for my DH. (polite snicker) Yonkie - 7 year old retired STB who was almost adopted by Lynne from New Vocations. Actually, Lynne's friend owns her sire! She is a big sensible girl who looks a lot like a warmblood. (That's her in the photo to the left) The Fabulous Yonkie kicked around at New Vocations for months before I went back to the FIRST horse I looked at when I started thinking about adopting - and there she was. She's a 16.1 + hand dark bay with too much brain and a rather imperial attiitude. Peanut - aka PeaNut the PoNee Mule - A 2 year old mule who is adorable, the Prom King of the stables. He whinny-ha-ha's instead of braying. He's going to be a silver dapple when he sheds, is currently about 11 hands and growing like a weed, and starts training soon. (shh!) Actually, I think he'll enjoy it, as he's quite smart and inquisitive. We also have Riley, our "Schnoodle", & cats Fergus (Manx), Koji (black Burmese cross), Maia/Minou (Siamese cross, Sweeney (tabby), and Turtle (tortoiseshell). All but Fergus were rescues - Maia being a mother cat who showed up with her 7 (!) kittens last fall. Maia is still looking for a home, Sweeney we kept, and Turtle is still too weird and feral to be successfully adopted. I am married to Joe, who is utterly NH but very patient. We'll be married two years in April, and I imported him from New York. He cooks!

I'm Linda. I am older-than-dirt. I live in North Idaho out in the sticks. Closest town is right down the hill, Dudley. Population 2. We live in the suburbs, Dudley Heights. That means we live on an island when the river floods (which it does about every year.) But, that is the price you pay to find horse property with lots of riding in an undevelopable area. My husband and I have 3 horses. I have my Paso Fino saddlehorse, Fuerza. He has an appy gelding, Rainy, that basically mows grass for a living. We also have a little tiny Peruvian Paso rescue, Tony, who went south to live with some friends for the winter where it is much warmer (the "banana belt" of Idaho). We have one dog who decided he wanted to live with us--he used to belong to some neighbors who moved out. He is probably some sort of big spaniel/border collie cross. Great dog. He is gorgeous in his summer haircut (shaved). Boomer has lots of friends over--the other dogs in Dudley and Dudley Heights, so he has company, but we don't have to pay the vet bills. We also have a couple of cats. Missy is the mystery cat, no one else ever sees her. That is too bad, she is beautiful. And we have Sammy, who has 7 toes on one front foot and 6 on the other. He uses them like mitts. Great little hunter. Missy, on the other hand, specializes in house mice. She has found that it is a dangerous, cruel world out there and she has no intention of every going outside again. My husband likes the horses--from the ground. Not much interest in actually getting up on them. Linda

Hi, my name is Dawn & I am from Central Lower Michigan. Married to a fairly NH hubby who loves his race car & swap meets, just turned 30, no kids. I have lurked here for years & posted rarely but love the friendly atmosphere. Came here after purchasing an OTTB who absolutely abhorred the life of trail mount with me & has moved on to learn to jump in his new home. Willie Book is currently preparing for his first dressage test . I have since found the perfect mount for me "Montana" a grade 14-ish stock type gelding who came from a Montana ranch via a local sale barn. We just trail ride, play at barrel racing & are currently trying to learn team penning. Hope to also do judged trail rides sometime soon, maybe endurance who knows. Also have Koko aka Bulldozer, a very stocky, kinda fat 12 yr old QH who the hubby rides at times and takes out things with occasionally, small trees are the most common. We have 2 goats, Goatie1 & Goatie2 who we saved from being dinner after the fair was done Assorted rabbits (I show those), three dogs: my little shadow sheltie who is a licensed therapy dog, a dane/doberman mix 110+ lbs at last visit, and a 10 mos. old boxer, aaahhhh save the house from him. As well, as Thomas, aka Tripod, the three legged cat who hung off the OTTB's tail one too many times & now has the life of indoor bliss. And Token, a dwarf hamster who provides hours of amusement for both the cat & the boxer (like the hubby easily amused ) & thoroughly enjoys (and uses) his protected position in his cage to his best advantage by teasing both to no end. Lots of pets was/is an occupational hazard maybe worse now we'll see, I know several on this board work in this field & they all seemed to have LOTS of pets, LOL. I spent the last six years as an Animal Control Officer :bang: Just recently left the field to accept a position at a local small animal practice vet clinic, what a breath of fresh air! I promise to really try to post more regularly, love the new board.

Nice area where you live. I spent part of August in your area playing and riding horses. We were a little north of you but came down to a bar on the St Joe in Avery to check out the fishing. I wanted to get a pic of the showcase, but didn't want to look like a fudgie :hahaha: My husband dragged me over every mountain in Northern Idaho...... Hoping to trail ride up to Scotman's peak in the summer for a week. Love the scenery and want to take more pics for a set of painting I want to paint of Northern Idaho.

Post by Luci on Apr 2, 2003 11:22:07 GMT -5
Well, some days it's the blunder horse and clueless rider, but we're both really trying. Hi all, I'm Luci and trying to keep up with the "older" crowd here I'm 45. I'm from Southern California, but moved to Salt Lake City, Utah about 10 years ago and love it, though it can get a bit wierd here. I'm very cliche, grew up surfing, yes there were orange groves down my street, I actually did manage a health food store and I like avacados. (Just hold the sprouts.) I'm usually a FT family law paralegal, now on a job hunt, and for a fun fact, worked for years for the attorney who now represents Elizabeth Smart -the girl who was kidnapped (no he's not the ***#@ who fired me, he's awesome). I'm also a student at the U. of Utah so I can get higher up the food chain as an attorney and support my horse habit better ;D I married my wonderful non-horsie husband, Michael, 1 1/2 years ago and he has two great sons (well, one's a 17 year smart allec, but he's supposed to be at 17). Michael has a cute old Welsh Springer Spaniel and poor guy got my 6 year old huge yellow spoiled rotten lab and almost 8 year old OTTB in the marriage hehe. At leat the lab gets the paper for him every day and tattles on the cat and springer when they break house rules. (Our 1 yr old Wilma cat was abandonded in a field as a kitten and is technically Michael's.) Three years ago I bought Navegante Gold, "Nave", who raced for just under 2 years as my first purebred TB. Nave was love at first sight. I had to have him. A pre-purchase exam showed he had a bone chip in his right front pastern. The owner/breeders paid for it's removal I got to watch the operation as part of the purchase deal. I found this site when I was heart broken about his chip and didn't know what to do. He's totally sound and a huge handful, but so sweet. I love showing and am working on getting him to love it too. I started horse life as a western rider, but prefer jumping and dressage as disciplines. Sorry, you can tell I work in law because I write way too much :hahaha:

Howdy.. I guess I missed this one.. who knows.. I'm Laura and I live in northwestern lower Michigan in the fine, fine Cherry Capital of the World.. oooooo ahhhhh.... I am mother of Morgan and Xandria, the loves of my life and the two responsible for dragging me all over the state for gymnastics in search of olympic fame and to cause great poverty for their parents.. Wife of a NH hubby of 11 years (OMG! I put up with him that long?) who has more interest in the motorized form of fun and of course NASCAR! I am owned by two lazy orange kitties. Utley (named after Mike Utley from the Detroit Lions and almost as big!) is more like another child, we've had him since birth and he's 11 almost 12 years old 25-30# cat. We have his mother Mamma Kitty (how original) who came to us after causing a rollover accident when she escaped from her cat carrier she's a "Ginger Cat". Apparently the girl no longer wanted her after the crash (imagine that!)... I am also owned by a mourning dove by the name of "Princess" who came to be with us after Utley "tackled" her mate and had a snack out of him. So she now resides at our house night and day living on our porch and under our porch. I've threatened the cats and they seem to leave her alone!!!! Getting ready to move to new house so I can have horsies and can be owned by more critters!!!!!!!
