Hi all,
I am Bindi (Belinda to them that don't really know me). I live in New Zealand after spending 16 years on an island off the coast of Australia where I couldn't have a hoss!! I am 37 (oh my gosh!!) and have returned to the horsey world after a break of 25 years!!
I owned a stroppy pony, Marty as a kid. I made that horse do things he just wasn't designed for and loved him so bad. Had to sell him when I was 13 due to money getting tight, saddest saddest day. I have recently bought Lily - or Penultimate - who had only been off the track for 2 weeks. She is a bootiful chestnut mare, around 5 years with a crooked white strip on her nose. After a rough start - i.e., me on my butt and her looking at me we have moved to ground training and coming ahead in leaps and bounds. I love her so bad, she is becoming an obsession. :loon:
I live with my partner, Tom, of 20 years (together that is... *L*.. he is waaaaay older than that!). We have a son who is 18 and lives in the swamp at the back of the house, are all 18 yr old boys like that?? We own a lotto/newsagency where I work 5 days a week, never minded working until I bought Lily and now want to win lotto and retire
We have 12 acres with:
6 alpacas 2 staffordshire terriers, Barney and Peggy Sue 1 cat, Lucy 4 mad mad mad bad sheep 4 big fat cows 8 wittle little calves hundreds of rabbits thousands of possums
thats about all, and just a note to say that this board is my sanity resort!! where else could have I found folk that agree that there is no hurry to ride my lily... she makes a damned fine paddock ornament - thanks guys.

Hi! I'm Norah, live in Wyoming. I've been riding since I was 5 (46 years ago!) and rode hunters in Virginia, showing LOTS and doing 4-H. Am a graduate of Virginia Tech -- are you Hokie people fellow alums? -- and worked as a community planner and archaeologist before I got so sick I used up all my money (health care costs are ASTRONOMICAL, not to mention food) and am currently starving and homeless. Not to beg pity or anything, but people NEED to know that you can do that in this country, by no fault of your own. Call your congressman. Still too sick to work much at all, but the local university has a computer I can get at. Oh, by the way, I am a trained psychic, and communicate with all animals. Help me out -- give me some stuff to do to occupy my time while I wait for this OLD body to heal itself.

I'm Erin and I have been riding since I was seven. I am nineteen going on twenty in August. I live in So Cal and although it isn't horse friendly, I love it out here. I got my first horse, Sierra, when I was twelve. He is a Paint gelding - very spoiled and fat when I got him - don't know much about his past but he seems to have been abused. He doesn't like men. He is currently getting back into shape to be my trail horse. I got my second horse, Zane, in January. He is a four-year-old TB. He never made it past race training. He had a bone chip in his right hock which was removed while still at the track. His right hock is noticeably bigger than the other but his x-rays came back clean. He is going to be a future eventer or dressage horse. I have to work up the courage to learn how to jump. I go to a junior college and I am going to get my AA Degree in May. I plan on transferring to a four-year in January. My degree is going to be in biology. I am thinking about becoming a marine mammal trainer but still keeping my options open. I interned with the navy during the fall in their marine mammal program. I have one cat, Benny, she is probably around fourteen years old. Two dogs, a ten-year-old dachshund, Jackie, and a two-year-old chihuahua, Isabelle. A bunch of fish. Two tortoises, Steve Prefontaine and Whizzer. That's it.

Hey! Whereabouts in SoCal? You must be my nearest exracer! I know some marine mammal trainers. I work on the strip here in LasVegas as an animal trainer. Its a hard field to get into. One thing I will tell you is that if you haven't already done it (and you might have) get your scuba certification. EVERYBODY here wants it, even to just take care of fish (part of my job). You might also thjink about going to Moorpark since you are in SoCal. Many of the animal trainers here went to school there!

Claire - that's what I want to do is go to Moorepark. I knew an intern whose friends went there and from what she told me, they didn't havve much animal experience.
And yes, I have to get my SCUBA. I don't like it but I'm going to do it.
I'm in San Diego County. Between LA and San Diego.

OK, BRISCO MAMMA.........I haven't gotten around to re-introducing. I was one of the 'leftovers' from that OLD, OLD bulletin board. I have a confession.........I STOLE MY HORSE'S NAME He hasn't forgiven me STILL, but someday he will I haven't broken the news to him YET, but the name of the new farm is going to be........ TADAAAAA TRUTH'S TRANQUIL ACRES Hope he feels tranquil there....I SURE DO ;D ;D So I've been posting here about 3 Years How time flies I was invited by CC who was also posting at the USDF dressage board. Then they sort of went 'away' and the rest is HISTORY I have a 13 yo OTTB, The Icy Truth. Truth to his friends and family. Truth raced at Penn National racecourse outside of Harrisburg, PA. He had a 1, 2, & 3 out of ten starts and was raced only as a 3 & 4 year old. I got Truth from the friend of the barn manager where I was riding. He wasn't quite 5 and pretty green. I was pretty green too as I had only been riding less than a year. But I FELL in love with him and when I found out he was for sale, well....... Then he disappeared and I thought he had been sold, but then found out they had put him in a different stall I couldn't sleep until I found out he was still there. So, by then I KNEW I wanted him. I started riding him and the rest as they say is HISTORY. I've had him 8 years now and haven't regretted a MINUTE. Well, I just went out and bought 20 acres for him So, we should be reunited shortly. Have to get that fence up!!! I, unfortunately, am an old fart But the goofball keeps me young and sometimes incapacitated EEEKKK I may be the OLDEST one here NO NO NO NO I work for a 'major' state environmental protection agency. smay's location is my second HOME TOWN and scarlet and gray are my favorite colors ;D In fact, my house is in BUCKEYE colors ;D ;D I have two dogs -- a GSD and a GSD lookalike -- Cara and Perrie. 2 cats -- Kandee and Siopao. Goldfish and betta and I used to have two cockatiels -- Sunshine and Cloud, who recently died in the new house from suspected formaldehyde poisoning. I'm still beating myself up over that. I am planning to add a couple more OTTBs and I'd like to get some goats and llamas. First I HAVE TO UNPACK Guess that's it

I'm Jack. Although I'm not an expert in horses, I do some transport for horse type products now and then. I also own another website called www.dieseltruckresource.com. It's basically a site for folks like myself who need to know information about diesel pickups to keep them running properly. I found this site because it's a yabb board, and mine is also. Nice to meet everyone. J

Hi there, Shadowgirl... welcome to the nicest group of people you could ever hope to meet!
Your horses sound wonderful - especially your 2-yr-old. How about some pix, then?
I'm Bara - one of the very few 'foreigners' on this board! I live in England, owned by two loopy TBX animals - and we all adore each other. Then there's ClaireLV, who is a transplanted Brit living in Las Vegas with a herd of gorgeous horses. Then Bindi - who I think is a Kiwi (New Zealander). Everyone else is US based. My geography of US is hazy ....MUCH to the amusement of everyone of this board ...! But I'm sure there are people near you!
So welcome, Steph, let's see some pictures of your horses! Love B
ps - avoid CatB like the plague, she's altogether TOO together!

and you're dogging my good CatB name!
Shadowgirl, it sounds like we do a lot of the same things with our hossies - I'm one of the few 'non'-exracers that posts here. I live in Kansas and own two QH's and one fat PoNee. I mostly trail ride, play at arena stuff (don't ask me about barrels, where I met my Waterloo. But, you can ask Bara about Waterloo - I believe she was Napoleon's nanny), and I dabble in dressage. Oh, and I'm not altogether too altogether, rather just a bunch of bits and pieces held together with baling twine. ;D
Welcome to the board!

Thank you Truth! Yes, Bara, I can't BELIEVE you forgot about me, the expatriate Frenchie! Harummpf... And then there's MOO, who is only half French but I forgive her.. Truth, it's my hubby who's from Belgium. Well, he was born here in the US, but his Belgium parents then settled in France when he was 5, soooo he has both French and US citizenships. VERY convenient. Lisann--no ticks in Michigan? Lucky you! Welcome to all the newbies!
