I am 35, a schoolteacher by day (which I abhor). I'm in Kentucky, sort of between Louisville, Lexington and Cinncinnatti , Ohio. Suphur, KY home of seventeen delapitated trailers and a stray goat. Joe, my NH but trying to be, shackee and I won a 26 acre farm in need of work! Here we have a myriad of misfit critters. Cobra (aka Cobie, Cobralocity, Velocity, Velocoraptor, The Raptor and most recently Gollum) is my OTTB that came via a wonderful person Jill who got him from New Vocations. He was famous for his aggressive behavior, charing , rearing, biting, striking etc. We've b eentaking it slow in the two years he's been here and when we ride its bareback and bitless just loolygagging around the farm. He finally showed me the proper functioning of his Ejector Seat oa couple months ago RainMan (aka ainy, Boo Radley, Pnee, adn Petunia) my 18 yr old TNW horse. We did lots of trail riding in the mountains but since I've moved to KY we haven't done much. He's taken to bolting the last few times he has been riden. Ug...still he is very gentle adn lovable. Crazy Legs 9 year old arab mare I got from a cow field. She was unbroke when I bought her and I have been way too slow iwht her. She gets very bored and leaps fences, opens gates and latches wit her teetha nd does anything else she can to stir up trouble Buckie Buttwiperbean is a mystery, age mystery breed bucksin who does eveything by lip. Sometimes he becomes Lippy Louie (not to be confused with Big Tee's cat, Louis Da Lip). He likes to help do all chores all the time. With his lips. Dakota -roughly 15-ish red dun QH. He has heaves but is trained to the hilt and quite a guy! My nephews from Philly get him for a few weeks when they come to visit in the summer. Big Boy- 25 yr old STB. Was an Amish horse and then went to work as a carraige horse in Arkansas. He found me via the internet and came to retire here. He is Joe's horse and is a very reliable fellow considering he'd never been ridden for 24 years! He has navicular now and seems to be controlled with eggbar shoes. We ride him infrequently but love him. He too becomes a nephew horse in the summer! Gorbachev- 14 STB really dark bay (or smooshed banana) came to us just last year. He is Joe's horse too, since Big Boy has navicular. Joe is a little leery of him though and they haven't bonded yet I have though. He is a great ride and has a HUGE stride! Tuchas- 2 year old donkeylet! He is the butt of all jokes. Love him to pieces! Paco! 7 year old mini-donk that came as a sorry case, malnoursished, bed sores, foundered, etc. He wasn't supposed to make it through that first weekend but with the help of som many people, including many here he is around to tell about it :0. He still has a way to go with those feet but he had a year of running and terrorizing the geldings that he would not have otherwise had. Heck, it was so dire that when I learned of him I brought him home in the bed of my pickup! How wt is that? We also have eight dogs (all spayed and neutred), six cats, four noodleatiels and a chicken! I worked for seven years as a vet tech and took the "unwanted" home. I am a pleasure rider only. I miss the TN mountains where I came from, and all the riding... Lynne

I'm Barbara - same age as Chris 'n Star (can't remember which of us is a month older than the other!) Currently as we all know 'of no fixed abode' thanks to the flooding in England! Shacked up temporarily with a ghost who hasn't yet done the dishes.
Thanks to the two Claires paving the way for Europeans, and who are SO nice, I'm allowed on here although foreign. (I think Bindi and I are the only two off-shore?)
I run a Marketing Consultancy in London and am owned by 2 smooshed bananas. Edge-of-the-Forest (whose Daddy was a racer!) he's a 16.2 TBXWelsh Cob; and Foreigner, a 16hh Belgian Warmblood who feels it is his destiny to race - particularly when you're trying for an in-hand canter. They're both too noodle-sure of themselves.
And I want to complain that I don't have the 'little-blue-laughing-thing' here anymore ....

Okay. I'm Brandi, and I am 20 and live in New Orleans, LA. I have 3 OTTBs: Key Evidence (aka the Beast, 8 years old), Bailey's Flurry (4 years old), and Katya (10 years old). I am training Beast and Bailey to be Jumpers, and not sure what to do with Katya...he has an ankle injury which may heal with time. I also currently work at the Fairgrounds race track grooming horses, and have no idea what I will do when the season here ends. That's about it for me right now.

I'm Amy, 34 yrs. old, living in Northern VA. I am ruled by my 5 yr. old OTTB, Tango. I got him a year ago and have slowly been re-training him. It's been quite a challenge as he's the first horse I've ever trained. Thanks to a very knowledgeable, no nonense training, we're progessing.
I do some small hunter and combined shows and would like to try my hand at low level eventing some day.
I also have a Great Dane named Ellington and a kitty named Priscilla.

Hi my name is Joan. I live in northeast Missouri on a 175 acre farm, work for the family business full time, do a little volunteer work for CANTER of Illinois. Among my 26 horses (mostly Quarter Horses & Paints) I count 1 exracer, a lovely black mare, Festive Miracle, who came off the track at Fairmount -she is due to have a foal in early April. My husband is an OTR truck driver who is gone most of the time- which leaves *me* to care for the aforementioned horses, 2 dogs, 6 cats and 1 llama. He is also a horse lover, or we would NOT still be married ;D (we met at the vet's when I was having a colt gelded.) I look at this board a few times a month and have found it a great source of all kind of interesting info, both horse and non horse related! Don't have much spare time so I probably won't post often....but I think this is a great resource. I've been riding horses since I was a kid (a LONG time ago) and I hope to be doing that til I'm 80. No discipline to speak of

:loon: I dont know how I missed this the first time around, but better late than never, right? :horsie: I'm Katie, Im in Maine, north of where Niaru is. I go to school at Lehigh, in PA, I noticed some people are from nearby Scranton... :coffee: we'll have to visit! I'm currently Maine-bound :curse: :bang: because of my stupid food allergies... But soon to be PA bound :curse: . I'm 19, and filled my barn up quite nicely with critters. We have 15 cats, 9 indoors.. Yup I'm nuts. 3 dogs, about 40 rabbits, by the way its quite interesting if you dont know how to check the sexes of your rabbits. And last but not least, I have 9 horses. :brian: I love my ponies, I decided since I have the *time* endless time, I'd take some OTTBs for resale, so I can get them off the track and into new homes, I've so far been successful with one already since I just started this in September, with one, then the rest came in Nov, I think that's half decent. So I have Irish, my Rugged Lark grandson that I will NEVER SELL. He's 9 now, and he's gonna tote my kids around (if I ever have them!!!). Timon, my 7 year old baby that I've had since he was in his mommy. Scarlett is his mommy and they're both lifers I think. I'm going to breed scarlett to Temerario VII this year though.. Very excited for that. Ali, my other lifer. She is an OTTB, but my baby. Never going to be sound- but HEY, im going to ride her soon! Her knee is holding up to daily turnout and no signs of soreness, so the vet said I can hop on and walk!!!! We're breeding her to Fuerst Gotthard (yup I decided to listen to MYSELF for once). Achille is a RESCUE- he's 7 and he's awesome, such a nice horse... Can't wait to find him his own human. Sol is another one, 6 y/os old, going to be an awesome dressage horse and I'll show him this summer if he doenst have his own human.. Chili- oh wow is all I can say about him... he's 4, and going to be AWESOME.. I'm keeping him around to show for a little while... Nero- 7, poor guy was supposed to race, not goingt o happen though... My dad claimed him and I got him home, his legs have had it with racing.. I dont know if he will be able to race.. you never know I guess, he definitely feels better now!!! And he's adorable, follows me everywhere I go, I think he had a good groom at one point, cuz he attaches himself easily, i dont need a lead rope for him... such a cutie... Bounder- my yearling colt.. cutie pie.. we bought him to possibly race as a NY bred, and then let him do his hunter thing (such a GORGEOUS MOVER)!, but im thinking i might just let him do his hunter thing... Soon to come, Flash (Esoteric Trick) and Trixie (evening trick), two VERY WELL BRED Ny bred 2 y/os. Were going to get them going to race, as they're partnerships and definitely going to do great things on the track. With me as their trainer/groom, how could they not??? :sun:
Oh yeah and to keep myself somewhat busy otherwise I substitute teach as well.. Need some sort of income!!!!

Does anybody remember me? I've been gone for several months. Well, not exactly gone, just taking a sabbatical from posting. I've been lurking about once a week to keep up with everybody.
I sold Willie to Lee Ann in early November (time constraints due to excessive work responsibilities ). and I was incredibly blue after he left. It was absolutely the right decision for him, he was way too talented to live in my backyard, and I think Lee Ann was very happy to get him.
Anyway things are lightening up at work a little (for now) so I've been able to spend a little more time here. I like the new board, especially as I fall in the category of not able to check the board very frequently.
Final news - I got another exracer! I swore nothing until next summer, but I ran across a really cool mare that I bought at the first of January. Her name is Juanita Belle, 16.1h chestnut mare foaled 1998. Raced twice at Prairie Meadows in Des Moines. She was last by 44 lengths in her second race!! But she doesn't know she's slow, she likes to GO! It's been a terrible winter for riding, and she'd never been ridden out so it's been a little cultural shock for her but she's so sweet!
For those who don't remember me, I live in rural northeast Missouri. My first ER was Wandern Willie, a 7YO gelding from Fairmount Park that I bought through CANTER with Keely's and Lee Ann's help. My husband Wiley & I live on our farm with about 8 quarter horses in various stages of infancy & retirement and Belle, as well as various cats & cattle. I'm 45, have ridden all my life. We have one son 19 1/2 who is a freshman at Loyola University in Chicago. He's not a horse guy. Wiley isn't really either, but he's incredibly supportive of my habit
Sorry so long, guess I had four month's posting pent up!
This really is the nicest board on the net!

I have decided it is time to reveal myself.....
I am Paula. I wanted to play for a bit, but because of a post on the HR board I have had to reveal myself.
I am 33 years young. LOL. I currently have 3 horses but am hoping to sell one of them.
There is Canasta, who is 19 this year, she is my OTTB and the mother of Briana and Tigger.
Briana, will be 2 at the end of May. She is registered Canadian Warmblood and is by the stallion Bajazzo.
Tigger will be 1 in July, he is also registered Canadian Warmblood and is by the stallion Oberon (formerly Osama).
