Oh yes, pretty much every year since moving to the area, I cannot resist fair food, it's my down fall...couple that with horse shows and the people watching, I am in heaven : )
They use to have horse shows every friday night in the summer, not anything rated, but fun family shows with the egg on the spoon as one of the classes... I haven't seen too many going through this year.

Fair Food!!! I miss those lovely greasy fries, fried cheese on a stick, gyros, fried veggies, pints of icecream and orange juice from the dairy bar....the advantages of being part of two areas of the fair ;D Man, I'm going to have to go out there and dish out for the good stuff now. We used to do some of the Friday nighters too! Good fun. How long have you lived out this way?

;D Hi All! My name is Kara and I’m a friend of StormysMom! I live in Mantua, Ohio also! I don’t have an ex-racer, but I have a breeding stock paint filly instead. I basically rescued her as she wasn’t “pretty” enough for her past family….. She is a beautiful bay w/ a star/snip and one sock. Enough white for me! “Dixie” is five years old this year and I have had her since she was two! We lived thru the terrible two’s and have both done so much together already! I started her under saddle as a 4 year old and so we have a year under our belts and going strong! We have done a little bit of everything so far (trail riding, camping, arena work, jumping, hunter pace, team penning, obstacle races and more)! StormysMom actually talked me into trying a Hunter Pace back in June and we survived (Dixie’s third time under English tack)! Stormy was such a great leader for Dixie to follow! We have even followed him over a few jumps here and there! I have enjoyed hanging out with them, learning more and more about TBs and all the hunter events! So, I thought it would be fun to join in on the forum, as I love talking with other horse crazy people too! And I am interested in all sorts of horse sports! I have found myself loving the flying feeling going over a few jumps on Dixie and my most recent adventures have included the cowboy obstacle races. We aren’t that competitive at it yet, but sure do have fun challenging ourselves! This Sunday, we will be participating in our first mounted unit clinic too! So I hope its ok I join you all in the exracers fun! It’s great to have a bunch of people to talk to that enjoy the horses as much as I do! ;D

Hey there! I'm Addy, sophomore at UNCW, and I'm on the equestrian team here! I've been riding for 14yrs now and just recently said goodbye to my OTTB Bailey, who I leased for 3yrs. I started riding him when he was 4 and his nickname was Bones, poor little thing. He put me through just about everything an exracer can put you through but he ended up being an amazing horse. We tried hunters, realized that was too slow for Bails, and decided to run around a crosscountry course, and that was where eventing came into my life. I adore TBs and all the potential they have when they come off the track. I can't wait til I get an exracer of my own and I'm so excited to get to know you guys! -Addy

Thanks StormysMom! The clinic went well. Dixie did absolutely wonderful and handled everything like a little trooper! I was a little dissappointed how the clinic was ran, we didn't have much ride time in or learning......lots of standing around waiting. I am going to look at it in a good way though and think of how it did make a nice patience experience. Making a 5 yr old filly stand still for a while is tricky, but she did get better at that! Oh well, on to our next adventure! An obstacle race on October 24th! You'll have to come join us!

Hey hey! My names Sam, I'm 19 and I live in South Florida! I've been riding for 6 years just about, and I've leased before, but owning really is a whole different experience! (the Tampa Bay area, not like Miami....) I'm bossed around by the 11 y/o (12 on Jan 27th!) OTTB Dry Ice, affectionately nick named Lucifer. Right now I'm in school studying to become a veterinary technician, I'm fairly certain I want to specialize in large animals. I also work at a dog daycare part time!

Hi! I was on After the Races. Been lurking for a bit now, so I figured it was about time to introduce myself.
I (sadly) live in southeastern Michigan with my husband and our dog Yogi. I have only one horse right now, a 15 yo OTTB gelding named BooBoo (yes, I named the dog to match the horse) who I've had for 10 years. BooBoo lives in eastern Pennsylvania right now; I haven't had him on a regular basis for almost 3 years now. I'm trying to rectify that. I have a "real" job that I hate, but on my one day off a week, I teach lessons. I wish I could do that full time. I'm working on it. I do mostly hunters, but since BooBoo hasn't been around for a while, I'm happy just to ride him. I don't care what we do. I hope to get him back in shape and try some puddle jumpers or something. I think I might be one of the few people who really like hunters. I'm hoping to expand my education soon with more dressage lessons. Hi!
