Another newbie here!
I've owned my unraced TB mare for about 11 years now. I've bought and sold one OTTB who is now a kid's lesson horse and loving it. Currently, I work part-time with a friend of mine who gives OTTB's second careers.
Outside of horses I work in an office. Pretty boring but it pays the horse bills!

HI! Im Andrea, soon to be 26 from cold and snowy Upstate, NY. In a few short weeks I will have a Masters degree and it is my goal to get a job teaching either elementary PE or High School Health and to be able to buy my own house and barn...I love my parents and all, but I want my own place! I have owned MANY horses in the past, I currently have 4. Impressive Miss Kitty is my 8yr old APHA BS Buckskin mare. Annie is 2yr old AQHA bay mare. Cali's Bright Chevelle is my yearling APHA mare. and RR Bright Jingo Bar is my homozygous 8yr old APHA stud. Kitty and Annie were all born at my house and are out of Mandi, the mare I learned to ride on (AQHA). Vicki is out of Kitty and Annie's other sister, Ranger's Caliograph. Bright is Vicki's dad and will be bred to Annie and Kitty is the spring. I love to break and train... once I get my own place I plan to get a couple OTTB mares to breed to Bright and trail ride. During the summers I work at a camp leading trail rides and teaching kids about horses, the place can be seen at: Oswegatchie.org Um..what else? Im a very chatty person, I love to shop (for horse stuff) and I love these boards...thanks Dawn for refering me Here I am on one of Camp's horses-Ziggy, he is blind in that left eye...

Hi, I have been around the boards abit but this is the first time I saw this thread so here it goes. My name is Marney and I am 35 yr old. I started riding when I was 4 and started Pony Club as soon as I could where I evented up to Prelim and got my B rating. I then went to college, met my wonderful nonhorsey husband and moved to Washington State. I also have a 2 yr old named Gage and work at a Healthy Pet Food Store called Mud Bay. I have my 30 year old Trakehner/App cross (Gunther) who has been with me since he was seven and my NSH cross rescue (Brian) who is now 5 and will hopefully be doing BN/N this summer. I have owned a few OTTB's and plan on getting another...These boards are great and so are the people.

I forgot to add I Love racehorses and always have. If I was wealthy I would own some property, take horses off the track and retrain them. Thanks again for all the great information, Marney

Hi all, I'm Karen from Madison Wi and I joined recently. (This is my 2nd post). I have a beautiful 4 yr OTTB I named Easy Choice becuz his track name was Crow Bait. I adopted him from a rescue on halloween and love him dearly. 4 weeks ago I fell off the mounting block and broke my tibia, and I haven't been out to see 'Easy' since. I'm stuck at home for 3 months according to my Dr . Have a wonderful trainer who's working with him while I recooperate. 'Easy' came off the track last summer with a bone chip in his knee, had the surgery and my vet thinks he'll recover 100%.

Hi, easychoice!! Welcome to the board! You'll like it here - nice, knowledgable folks who have a common love of our four legged friends (all kinds actually - horses, dogs, cats, donkeys.....well, you get the idea) *ouch* So sorry about your leg - bummer. But I guess the bright side is most of your recovery is taking place during the crummy weather. By the time you recoup, you'll have good weather to play with EC. Looking forward to seeing pictures of your boy. See you around the board. :-) ETA: "Crow Bait"?? Seriously?? WHAT are these folks thinking when they name these horses?
