Wow, I have to take some time to read all of these posts. My name is Heide, not to be confused with Heidi. I am Heide in Black to any of those that know Eric Horgan I work in Breckenridge, CO and lived there for six years until this last month, when I moved to Fairplay (the other side of the tracks) to be able to afford my own horse property. It was hard to sell the beautiful cabin in the snowy woods, but its nice to have my little horse at home. Now we have 8 1/2 acres and an old farmhouse with horse pastures, sheds and a little arena. We are really close to lots of cool trails in the mtns. I am 37 (hard to believe!), have a very supportive but non-horsey husband (soon to change), and we are owned by our exracer, Rainier (8 y.o. TB), a 3 y.o. chesapeake by retriever named Quin, who just had ACL surgery, an extremely loving but hyperactive 2 y.o. australian shepherd named Loki, and a siamese/burmese-type romeo cat named Brulee (after creme brulee). I have two boarders, a paint/friesian cross pony (moulin) and a 10 y.o. OTTB exracer-turned-wanna-be-dressage horse. I work as the Open Space and Trails Planner for the Town of Breckenridge. awesome job, but I should be outside more!! I get paid to ski and mtn bike some of the time, which I certainly can't complain about. Let's see, what else? I just recently started eventing and have found that I love jumpers as well. We will see where Rainier wants to go? For the time being, I'm trying to get him to be a relaxed trail horse Trying to decide whether to have kids or stick with dogs and horses . Besides horses, my HB and I love to backcountry ski, nordic ski and mountain bike. In my past life I was a pro mtn biker and ski racer, but got sick of the travelling and lack of time and $$.

I am Elizabeth, and I live with my husband Bryan way up north in Quebec, Canada, just west of Montreal in a horse-oriented town. I am shocked to be 36 this year. I am originally from the US (Wisconsin, then Arizona), but my husband is Canadian so we decided to settle here and are really enjoying it. I just got my first horse, a 9 yo OTTB "Slim Jim", who I am retraining to be an amateur hunter. I have always wanted a horse, and finally had the means and time to take the plunge this year. Currently he is boarded ($$$$$$$ ), but someday I hope to have him at home on our own land, along with pal to keep him company. There is an active A and B show circuit here, so I may try Jim in the baby greens at a B show this summer and see what he does. If he does not like showing, that's ok too. We also have a great cat "Buzz", who is very clever. She is a polydactyl cat, meaning she has "thumbs". I had never seen this before but it is pretty common around here. That's about it. I have a rather dull job as a consultant for obscure public financial reporting compliance, which I hope to leave at some point but need the $ to support my horse! If anyone has an opening for a professional horse nose petter, let me know.

OK-introducing myself: My name is Clementine and I'm 29 . I live in Four Oaks, NC 30 minutes from Raleigh and I'm a volunteer at the hospital with my dalmation dog. I have a 15yo QH that we use for trailriding and an 5 year old QH 14 hands. I was born in holland and had a WB lease horse. I love to ride Dressage and jump with my horse. Four years ago we moved to NC.
I would like to find an nice OTTB orTB horse because i like to start dressage again.

Dutchgirl, I am in NC, too!
My name is Ellen and I am 28. I live in Greenville, NC, and I am a horse trainer. We do mostly hunters and equitation, dabble in the jumpers. I have a big lesson program and lots of wonderful horses. Two of my intercollegiate equestrian team horses are OTTB, and they are fantastic boys. Both are about 13 yrs old. One of my students just bought an OTTB, and he is beautiful and so sweet! I've had a wonderful time with him so far. My personal horse is TB/QH, but I'd love to adopt one from CANTER one day. I also have a Standardbred, Big Mack, who is HUGE and very slow. Thank goodness he never learned to pace because he makes a super hunt seat horse!
I know that warmbloods are all the rage in the hunters right now, and I know that many of them are gorgeous and incredible athletes...but I'm going to stick to TBs because they are my favorite ride. I love the finesse involved. I like the TB brain.
That's all! I used to be a ponies-only kind of girl...but am now a TB and TBcross lover.
