Niaru, she's half Friesian, half Saddlebred, though I suspect some paint blood on the Saddlebred half too for that colour. Isn't she a cutee though. I though she was in your size range, if not in your budget range. Oh, and anything to help. :  I kinda like Charm too.

And this is Gallant Man, the british star. His name comes up quite a lot in Charm's papers...Isn't he gorgeous? I just love his build. Zen--kinda? JUST kinda? LOL

Wow! That's a motor on Charm's granddaddy I don't suppose you can pick him up at a Canter sale This guy is beautiful and substantial. I think you need to take an extra good look at this mare. She will fill out a lot once she leaves the track and starts working under saddle. With a granddaddy like this, she could fill out a LOT. Note also how well-taken-care-of her feet are. This kind of attention-to-detail bodes well for a sound horse moving into a second career. She looks like a lovely mare. And in every single picture she looks happy and curious. Just remember to listen to your heart. The horse you choose will have tremendously big shoes to fill. You will never find another Rita, but you can find another horse that will fill your heart in a different way. Linda

OK. I just got an e-mail from Ellen, the CANTER volunteer. Getting a vet check is going to be a hassle, just to coordinate everyone. Ellen heard very good things about Charm's trainer tho (and I knew that already, just the way Charm was so relaxed around him). She, too, thinks Rita's Cargo is an omen... I don't know that I can make it on Thursday after all. Have to wait until Saturday!!

Ohh thats too bad Niaru.. You're going to have to wait... As for the vet check... If your'e there on a race day, the vets are wandering around. I know we've had an unscheduled check on three horses, just by being there at the right time. If you were going Thursday I would either go with you or have my father get there so that you could get your vet check. Poor Ellen is going through a lot right now. She's a tad busy. Can't imagine why.... :loon: I leave for PA on Friday though, so can't help ya on Saturday.. :sun: But girl, if you need anything, email me... I'll try to help!

Nairu, I like #1 and #4, especially since she has The Minstrel in her background. He was supposed to have a wonderful temperment-very workmanlike, unlike his sire, Northern Dancer and Nijinsky II-another ND son. Mahmoud is in Carambi's pedigree...just can't remember where!
I also do not like the long pasterns on #2 or her expression (although I know it is only one frame in time).
Good luck...I usually left in tears after looking at a horse-none of them measured up to my Marc. And although Carambi needed me more than I needed him, I am having alot of fun with him (and learning a ton!).

Thank you CC, it's good to know about The Minstrel. I like an even-tempered horse LOL. I'm thinking of Your SO Charming a lot...but I wanna SEE Rita's Cargo. I hope Kmmom is still game to come with me on Saturday...I can't wait to hear what she has to say about those mares (after all, she's the one who picked Rita out).
