In my area of Columbus, looks like 4 inches, not including the drifts. Didn't make it out to the barn today, maybe tomorrow, I hope! Couldn't get through the obstacle course to the manure pile anyway!

Our snow melted yesterday and turned to rain. I know it sounds like good news but it ISN"T! I was just out doing barn chores and messin with the horses. I wnet in to clean a stall and came out to dump a muck bucket ten minutes later and EVERYTHING was frozen! The horses manes were locks of icicles. ALL of them were shivering (I hate seeing that). I had to sit on my hiny to get onto my ice slick porch only to find that the ice had coated the door and I couldn't get in! Everything is covered with ice and its still coming down. We lose our power in the average rain. This does not bode well. Meanwhile, I put the skinnies in their stalls early but everyone else is fighting about the run in and the barn aisle. UG!! I'm gonna have to bring some in the house

Well, we only got 1 to 2 inches, but have two foot drifts in spots, lots of blowing and it sure feels colder than they SAY it is. Didn't make it to the barn today, but it sounds like they got more snow than we did. Should be fun tomorrow.

Our church sends busloads of teenagers to the mountians so they can see what snow is . They snowboard instead of surf. It rains sometimes which makes it a little muddy. In the fifteen years that we have lived here it has snowed three times. The first time I was working in San Luis Obispo - thirty miles south of here. All roads were imeadiatly closed, because Californians can't drive in snow - tow truck crews labor for days afterwards pulling cars off the shoulders of the roads. So I had to stay overnight at my parents house because I could't drive home. Meanwhile, back at the ranch..........Brooks comes home from work, and can't get her truck up the driveway , which is a fairly steep grade. She gets the track about halfway up, and it slides back down. After about five tries, she parks the truck, gets her wheelchair out, gets into the wheelchair and proceeds up the hill in the chair. She gets halfway up, and slides down - about five more times. So she gets out of the wheelchair on her hands and knees and pushes the wheelchair up the hill, butting it with her head like a goat. After a herculean struggle she manages to get into the house, wet and shivering. The phone rings . She scatches the receiver up and screams; "YEAH? ?!!!!! WADDYA WANT? ?!!!!" It's me. " Are you mad at me?"I implore. ( This is one of those delicate male ego things .... the only reason a woman can be mad must have to do with me, the center of the universe.) She still loves me. I don't know why. It may have something to do with the hot,hot California sun.

however, 'bout croaked when I saw on the weather map that I am just on the border of the 24"-30" snowfall. YIKES! Why can't it ever do this when I have to go to work??? I'd like weather related time off. There's only about 7" out so far, though

...in the cold, cold Maine weather...at lest we have REAL seasons here Brian  But WOW for Brooks that day!! Geez. I think I would've just waited in the truck...it says a lot for cell phones, uh? It actually happened to me too: on a rainy day I left for work in the am in my little Honda Civic hatchback, and half-way up the loooong driveway (we had a studio in a farmhouse in NH then), the car started to slide back on the frozen road. A VERY scary feeling! I even thought of jumping out!!! The car and I ended up in a ditch, just inches from a tree, and walked home slipping and sliding. Can't imagine doing it on my hands and knees pulling a wheelchair behind me!!!

We had lots of rain yeasterday and now we just have a layer of ice. Doubt we'll get any real snow but maybe a few more inches of ice this evening (which is actually worse than snow). Hopefully there will be no power outages. I don't have that much firewood and everything in my house runs on electric!

In case anyone's still curious, we currently have about a foot and still counting into tomorrow afternoon here in PA. DC and MD are worse. Might be old news by now...
