I don't think we got nearly that much rain in Tongie, although Steve said it poured on him on the way home from Merriam, Friday night! Must have been pretty scattered, I guess, but you're right, we need so much more!

28 inches here in MD-biggest snowfall in the state's history!! I guess the drought is over now.
We actually had 2 inches late Friday night. And I spent the day Sat. stocking hay in the barn (we store it in another building) and bedding stalls.
When I got up at 6:00 am Sunday morning, we had about 3-4 inches. Jon and I headed up to the farm (thank goodness I got my Subaru back Friday night!). I left the horses in and went about giving hay and...... WATER...the :curse: frost-free hydrant was FROZEN :bang: :bang: It doesn't drain properly and the heat tape had not been plugged in. Oh and did I mention that it was 10 F out? I thought it was supposed to get warmer when it snowed???
Luckily, we only have 6 horses so I filled the buckets (just 1 each) at the hydrant about 100 feet away at one of our pastures. Jon and I got home about 1:00 and watched it snow... And thought about those poor guys in the 2 big duallies pulling big utility trailers down I-83 who had NC license plates on!
The whole condominium community dug cars out on Monday afternoon but we stayed home. My sisters were quite entertained by a barn full of horses especially the youngest TB mare who insisted in galloping up and down the barn aisle. Yes, to get them exercise, they let each horse loose while its stall was cleaned. Except Carambi and Glen decided to go on a field trip up the driveway. Jill finally got them after floundering through 2+ feet of snow.
S.May...our farm drive is very long also-maybe 1000 feet. it took my sister's DH about 3 1/2 hours to just clear from the road to the house. The drive to the barn is still about 12 inches. Yesterday it took my DH about 2 hours to clear around the hay shed (we kept having avalanches from the indoor roof that ended up right in front of the hay shed door!) and to clear a path from the barn to each of the fields so we could get the horses out.
I had 2 days off work...but back today even though we could take liberal leave (read-use your own vacation day) if we wanted. I also love these big snows...mainly because we only get them once every 10 years! And this one was not a blizzard-no high winds, so there was no drifting-although we have 6 foot high piles all over the place!
The city of Baltimore did have 2/3 of the roof collapse on the B & O Railroad museum. The museum is a round house built in 1884 that housed irreplaceable locomotives. Hope none were damaged too badly.
Now we are supposed to be in the 50s this weekend and get 2 inches of rain...now THAT will not be fun :bang:

Everytime they kept saying that MD was getting the most snow of anyone! YIPE! You guys got nailed. I heard somewhere in MD got 4 FEET. WHAT? I have to get my barn driveway cleared someday soon, cause I need to have hay delivered.... I guess that would be the only possible benefit of the rain we're supposed to get this week.... it might melt a little of these HUGE SNOBANKS in front of my barn. Eesh.
