She perplexes me. She just NOT food or treat orientated.
I'm not complaining, just wonder if anyone else has a dog like her? I get so embarrassed when various 'dog professionals' (vets, trainers, etc.) are so confident that they have the 'magic' treat - and I just know she'll turn her long nose up. I start apologising in advance ....
Like today - I went shopping and bought them each a bone. Joe took my hand off for his bone. Lexie sniffed at hers. Then (reluctantly) took the wrapping paper in her mouth (not the bone) and dropped it on the floor.
Finally, Joe got Lexie's bone and Lex took the wrapper from my Camembert cheese and licked it clean.
ps - Joe is now enjoying her bone.
Anyone else have a weird dog?

Well I think we can put Capt. Jack in that category too. I tried to move his food dish. It was still in the same room, just against a different wall. He will not eat his food! He stares at it and then stares at me. I caved about an hour ago and put the dish back against the original wall, and he happily gobbled up his food. I had a dog named Grunt that would not eat treats. not ever.

If you want her to do something for a treat, she has told you what type of treat she wants. Camembert cheese!!! Some dogs just like the finer things in life. I once had a dog I was training that made me want to beat my head against the wall. Cocky me said oh no problem he will spend 2 weeks with me, then I will train you. I tried everything I could think of, and finally he would only work for tender bottom round steak!! Most dogs will do back flips for hot dogs, but not this guy, he had to have a 17 dollar steak cooked all day in a crock pot.

Hee hee! You both make me feel better. No, she's not having French cheeses - nor Filet Mignon!
It's the look of disdain on her face as she sniffs the offered treat! Then she may - may - take it politely in her very front teeth - before dropping it on the floor.
I'm reduced to trying to pretend to eat the damned bone before she'll deign to look at it. "MMMMmm Yummm"!
Ah well. Lexie's loss is Joe's gain. Weight gain!

Keep looking. My dogs will not accept a plastic or rubber toys. Only soft stuffed things that squeak............hedgehogs are best.

Lexie says a nice ribeye would suffice. I never took cheap dog treats on my delivery route. The dogs may not be too choosey with their owners, but could get persnickety with delivery drivers.

lol My little girl was feral when we found her, and I want her to chew a bone to help keep her teeth clean. While I did not pretend to chew on it, I kept trying to put it in her mouth, cause I was certain once she tasted it she would start chewing. Nope!!! It's brushing her teeth everyday instead!!!

Yes, Stella was like that. Picky, picky. Didn't like any treats. Then she'd steal the butter off the kitchen counter, or, in one instance, what was left of the Thanksgiving turkey on the counter - in a house where we were guests - ooops. over the years we discovered she liked fish more than meat. Sardines, salmon, cat treats...
You'll find something Lexie likes!

Oh be careful made sure you buy treats that not made in china or mexico. They have different standards and sometimes add unhealthy things.
I always buy things made here in the US.

Niaru - Lexie and Stella are twins separated at birth!
Brooks - I don't think we get Chinese or Mexican dog treats in Shetland ....
Lisa - my theory is (a bit crazy, but) she wants 'people' food, not 'dog' food. Hence my pretending to eat the bone; and she stealing cheese wrappers.

Lisa, no, I know you weren't! I just feel bloody silly pretending to chew on a bone... Imagine if Candid Camera was present???

Joey, says, "no I don't have the camera on...." Winter would eat pretty much anything and had the ability to chew rawhides and such in record times. He loved drive through food places as he knew he'd be getting cheeseburger, though sometimes we shared it. One of the few places a stranger could be near my car and he wouldn't growl at them.

The things we do for our dogs. My foster doggie had to go to the emergency vet last night, because he was dehydrated, and not feeling very good. To me he looked worse than he really was. They gave him some fluid, and every hour on the hour all through the night I would give hime water through a syringe. A bit tired today, but he is a bit better.

We're off to the vet next week - just for booster shots. Because our Joe is such a scaredy-dog, I don't like putting them both in the car together.
So our SPCA friend has offered to take us in his van - which has separate crates. YES!
I'm sure it would be fine, in the car - unless Joe panics ... Did I mention that he bit me in the face, just before Christmas?
Little sod. I can't risk him biting Lexie. She is very sweet, and has never opened her mouth in anger, but if she did lose her temper he wouldn't stand a chance. Believe me. I nearly lost MY temper!
