"Great??" wheezed Bara.
"Oh - sorry," said Goalie, loosening her headlock. Brian and Rad were not convinced that it was wise to do so...
Brooks examined the new book. It wasn't about Arthur and Camelot atall.
"It's THE NEVER-ENDING STORY," she said.
"Well, there's a surprise," said Ann, unsurprised .
They all nodded, except Bara who massaged her neck. ("S-o-r-r-y" mouthed Goalie.)
"Where's Welkin?" asked Brooks.

" I thought this was the NEVER ENDING STORY !!!" she said "But where is Merlin's story" Brooks was so confused. She went off mumbling to herself.
Meanwhile Ann approached the book that lay on the ground. There was a golden light the encircled it and as Ann got closer it encircled her too. Then they both disappeared in a great flash........POOOOOOF

"There, there" ventured Boo...who promptly was bopped upon the head.
"I BET that was a Portkey!" said a very excited Brooks. "Let's try it too!"
"Now ya'll just WAIT a minute", said Gandalf. "Something is very wrong here...and why is my horse chestnut and snoring?"
"Look!" yelled Bara.
Everyone turned and saw...

which scared Goalie so bad that he ran to find Captain. Together they took off over the hills.
Oh Great, thought Stella, now I'll have to ask mom to open the other book that mysteriously just showed up on the floor. She'll know what to do now.
Meanwhile as niaru was bending over to pick the book up...........a loud "BOOM" filled the air.
The gang were surprised as ..............

Rad woke up.
"IT'S 80 degrees!" "Fahrenheit," he added.
They all sighed with relief. 80C might have caused a tiny problem with the books. And with them.
Zen switched Uffda off. She took his piece of coal away. The small blue dragon sulked.

Meanwhile, Brooks was inspecting the book upclose, trying to reverse the Portkey to get Ann back. Niaru reached for the other book but then reconsidered. She liked it here in NZ where it was warm and dry, she didn't want to go back to cold wet Maine.
Gandalf was still having a heated argument with Merlin. The Sorcerer took out a very ancient looking wand and Gandalf bristled. "Put that back! Put that back right now or I'll go get mine! Shadowfax, where ARE you?!"
"Now, now, " said Terrie, "we are all adults here, right? We can come to terms with whatever it is that you don't agree on. What IS the problem, anyway?"
POOF!
Brooks was gone, too.

"Oh Damn" she said "I got to close......where am I? Everything became clear instantly....'Dumbledore, Faulks we need you in NZ" Brooks started talking very rapidly, Dumbledore could only make out NZ and Merlin and Gandalf and some about racers. "Calm down we will sort this all out, take my hand, the bird perched on his shoulder and POOOOOF they went.
Meanwhile Terrie was running over the hills with Captain, they were looking for ...........................

......the keys that would lock the books so they could do no more harm. However it didn't seem to matter as she topped one hill, magically more hills would rise out of the ground. She could see the keys, they were just so far away that she couldn't get to them. It will take a miracle, and lately it didn't seem like there were many to be had. She sat down to rest.
Brooks was still missing, and Bara and Claire were thinking this wasn't a bad place to stay fro awhile.
Stella was searching the room and found a small door behind the curtains. Hmmm thought Stella as she nosed it open..........suddenly there was.......................

'Right', said Brooks, from her sickbed. "Well, we don't seem to have a librarian, then."
"But here we are in Wellington, so close..."
"Didn't we have another librarian, somewhere around the house?"
She paged through the Neverending Story... Every time she came to the last page, the book opened again.
"I'm not feeling very well," she said ....
