"Not to worry", said the apparition in the long flowing white robes, "the Cheetah is with me. He will help you achieve the mission with which I am about to entrust you".
Everyone stopped in their tracks to look at him (except Rad of course, who was still dreaming of helping his favorite cowboy rescue a Goatsel in Distress ).
Ann stuffed her tea back in her bag. This was a serious matter and she had to be clear-headed to be able to read those maps.
Oooh Chic alors! thought Niaru. I've always wanted to ride one of those Rivendell horses...

.........it was a mix of both Elves and Horse Lords they brought enough horses for all. They were going riding...............right into Middle Earth. Brooks hoped that Ann had been reading You never know what might happen. Making sure that everyone had their hats and handkerchief the group mounted up and were off. First to Hobbiton then through the Old Forrest. Bara had a feeling they had forgotten something and was discussing it with Goalie when......................

...after many mile through lush green lands known as the Shire, Ann was acting most strange, wiggling and squirming all over her saddle with the most odd look on her face. Her "tea" had started to vibrate and became very heavy. "They told me it was just tea" she was mumbling to herself. Terrie and Bara kept looking back and asking her if she was alright. "What ?? oh yes sure I am fine" she'd say.............Trouble was down the next path..........................

as soon as they went around a the curve there was a towering set of gates. Bright gold in color and there was such a degree of lightness showing through, that Ann instinctively reached for her foster grants and put them on. As the rest of the exracers were reaching for their sunglasses the gates started to slowly open. Brian looked at Brooks and said,"Where have you brought us to Brooks, you know we have to be careful ." Trumpets were sounding and a round of applause was filling the air.............................

Goalie set down her magical golden suitcases and opened them. Everyone crowded round, they'd been dying to know what was in them.
"Oh," said Brooks. "They're empty!"
"Not quite," said Terrie. She reached into the smallest case and pulled out a golden spur. It had definitely not been there a moment ago.
"What else is in there, Auntie Terrie?" breathed Stella (in French).
Goalie smiled and reached into the middle-sized case.

Oooh, yes! His mask with the big blue eyes would go perfectly with chainmail!
(You trendsetter, Rad!)
Ann WAS reading, but it was 'The Once and Future King.' She was part way through the 'Sword in the Stone'. "Bl***y trilogies," she sighed. "Just when you think you're done!"
"Oh, no," murmured Brooks, yet another fantasy tale I have to weave in..."
"NOW," said Goaliemom, firmly. She reached into her suitcase...
"Ah well, Brooks, here we are - or were - again." said Merlin.

All Zen could ask, "OK after the shire Merlin wants to go to Glastonbury? though Sterling may actually be the place, lots of different opinions on the matter and Merlin seems forgetful about the issue, but perhaps we should go to Australia first? Just thinking logistically of course."
Goalie continued to pull things out of her bag, startled screamed "Zen! What is your blue dragon doing in my bags!" Uffda having quite the smirk on his face, as he was supposed to stay home this trip.....

Gandalf slapped Merlin upside the head. "Of course it's Glastonbury! Call yourself a Druid?"
"Well, THAT'S not very nice," said Stella (in French). Boo nodded, vigorously.
Stella slapped him upside the head....

"Merlin, please don't interfere" said Gandalf sternly."I have a very special mission for the Exracers here, that only they can take on."
"And what mission would that be?" wondered Ann, sipping hot tea while opening A Game of Thrones.
"Interfere, schminterfere. What happened to just helping these hard-pressed Moguls, uh?" challenged Merlin, slapping his robes around himself.
Meanwhile, Goalie was still searching her suitcase for... "Here, let me help you", said Bara, and upended the suitcase in one swift move.

Goalie went to stop her - but too late! Out of the second suitcase rolled a book ...
Bara went to grab it, but Niaru stayed her hand.
The book tumbled spine over spine.. The girls held their breath. It tumbled to a stop.
It was covered with calf's-hide. They could see that the pages were gilded. It was open to the front page. There was an illuminated first letter. It was surrounded by exquisite illustrations.
"WHAT WE NEED HERE IS A LIBRARIAN!" said Goalie, shouting quite quietly, restraining Bara in a (quite) gentle headlock.
Niaru guarded the book.

Meanwhile the others were looking for Ann, where had she gone ?
