NIGHT 3 :
LEX : Hmmm. Strange events last night. Overheard Gunther speaking German to the two Americans. He has clearly forgotten that we are German Shepherds. I am cunningly disguised as a Collie, but The Child can't hide his parentage. Gunther sprang us for a while to attend a meeting of the escape committee with the Boxer, the Jack Russell, the Weimeraner and the two GIs. Mustn't let him find out that we understand German ....
BUSTER : Gunther! Gunther! Wir sprechen Deutsches, auch! We Reschaferhundhunde. Mochten spielen?

Day 4 early morning.......
The door to the kennel opens and in walks an older American dog. As Dakota is put her private run with the fancy drapes, she looks around and sees Lex and Buster being brought in from the back with Gunter. Gunther bends over and unfastens the leads and pats Buster as he goes in his run. As Gunther is opening Lexies run she moves away from him and goes over to Dakota.
they whisper to each other their hellos and Lex returns to Gunthers side. As she goes in Dakota notices that they are both very wet and very muddy. Now just where did Gunther take them ?

DAY 4 :
LEX : We have a new arrival. She's an older lady and she arrived in style - more like an honoured guest than a POW. She is very elegant and has mounds of luggage. She has been given the suite - and she has brought her own furnishings. Camp rumour has it that she even has her own squeaky toy. I sidled up and said hello - asked her name. Can't quite place her accent ... but she seems very friendly with Molly and Bear ...
BUSTER:
DAKOTA! Hi! It's MEEE, BOOO. DO YOU WANNA PLAY?

Day four, late evening
Dakota's suite is right next to Molly and Bear, so they are able to discuss the best way out. Dokata gives assignments to both Molly and Bear. They must get a look at the outside fence. To find a weakness, if there is one. And they must know the schedule of the trainers and nightwatchmen everything depends on it.
Mean while Auntie Brooks is still looking for Bara, she has been to her cottage and her business, her final location to look will be where Forry and Edgie are stabled. Hopefully she will be there or one of the two horse will know where to look. She must find her!

night 4
Gunther walked into the guard shack to relieve the day shift. After a few pleasantries, the other men left Gunther to his work. He immediately went to the kennel, and started his rounds leaving section k w/ the shepards, and american dogs till last. As he walked down the corridor he unlatched the kennels and opened the wire doors. No leads tonight as he called to the dogs to heel. He walked briskly through the work yard to a small brick gardening shed where a few other dogs were waiting. From inside his jacket he removed several papers, and layed them on the table. The wise older dog Dakota recognized them as the prison layout, as well as the layout for the security system, and guard schedules. As he turned to leave, a smile crossed his weathered face. He winked at the corgis, and left the building.

They got out of there as fast as they could and regrouped up by Busters run. Dakota motioned for all to come into her suite as it was the biggest one in the kennel. She closed the drapes and turned to Buster."Now is the time for you, my young lad to step up to the plate and show everyone what your secret power is".

NIGHT 5 : Left on guard duty, Buster could feel his eyes closing... Soft snores from the surrounding runs, were lulling him to sleep. 'MUSN'TTTTT...zzz'
Behind him, Lex was chasing rabbits in her sleep, making little yipping noises, her legs jerking convulsively ...
Next minute, they were sharing the dream, and Buster was bounding alongside her in dreamland.
In the guardhouse, Gunther, too, was dozing, feet up on the desk, hat tipped over his eyes.
Slowly, he became aware of something strange happening just outside the perimeter fence ...
Two large shapes, and two smaller shapes obscured the moon. He watched. And listened. A strange rhythmic squeaking noise.
Quietly, he rose to his feet and stealthily edged outside into the darkness ....
Edgie stopped abruptly, Forry bumped into him, Brooks bumped into Forry - Bara cursed under her breath...For a second, no-one breathed.
Then - 'MUM!' hissed Edgie 'Auntie Brooks is squeaking! Oil her wheels! ''Sorry,' muttered Brooks. 'Sorry,' muttered Bara. 'Forry - where's the oil-can?' she whispered.
'The what?' hissed Forry.
In the darkened kennels, Molly and Bear came instantly awake...

"The bloody oil can!! it's in her spare parts bag." she whispered. Molly with her keen hearing could hear ever word they said, she worried that the poodle in the cage next to the door would hear them too, but what could she do? She knew the poodle was one of them the ones that couldn't be trusted, the ones who wanted Buster secret powers all to themselves.

As Gunther's eyes adjusted to the dark, his shoulders sagged with relief. Just two horses strayed into the pasture next door, lazily cropping the grass. Time enough to deal with them tomorrow.
'Stay down,' muttered Edgie to the two humans.
The poodle was beginning to move towards the front of her cell. 'Bear! Wake up!' said Molly. 'Cause a distraction!' Bear sauntered over to the dividing bars ..
'Bon soir, Mademoiselle,' he said to the 'collaborator' in charmingly accented French. 'Je m'appelle Bear'.
In her luxury apartment, Dakota flipped open her squeaky toy and deftly pawed a number into her cleverly-concealed cellphone.
'Mom?' she said softly. 'It's started. They're here.'

Mom replied." Yes dear, I have been keeping an eye on you all. I knew they would get there before I could send Ilsa in to help."
" you know what you need to do now Dakota my girl"
and with that Dakota turned to the west wall of her suite and waved her squeaky toy from left to right. A hole appeared. not a big hole mind you but big enough for Buster and Bear to sneak out of.

...meanwhile, Ilsa roams the streets of a small French town. All because her mother is so scatterbrained, she booked the wrong tickets for the brilliant young German Shep- err... "Alsatian!" barks Ilsa, dropping the beret (found in a trash can behind Marie's Couture Chapeaux) further down over her left eye. "Oui, je suis un Alsatian! Bonjour, monsieur!" She waggles her tail fetchingly at the imposing Gallic mutt who has appeared from the alleyway to the left. Er, a' gauche. Oh dear, Ilsa has run out of all of her French vocabulary - why did Mom take that phrase book away when she was chewing on only page 9??? She shifted uncomfortably on the cobblestones. The mutt stared at her, one hard eye finally falling upon her ID tag, which she had forgotten to tuck under her beret. "Ilsa?" he growled, softly - "Ilsa, au Texas? Is that you, Cherie?" Ilsa, looking guilty in the way that only a GSD who is not really feeling guilty can look guilty, nodded yes. The darkly handsome mutt was already speaking into his wool scarf (tied in that way that only the French can do). "Madame Dakota? C'est Jacques. We have found her!"

....in the alleyway behind the butchers' shop in Rue de la Chienne, Jacques sat back on his haunches, chivalrously waving Ilsa to finish the scraps they'd been sharing.
'Cherie, we in the Resistance know of this collaborateur, FiFi,' he snarled. 'Already, our leading foreign agent, Stella, (code-named Star), is making her way from the USA to the detention camp.'
'Alors, her mamman did crate her to the correct country...'
As he spoke, the wakeful dogs in Cellblock H were watching the arrival of a stunningly beautiful white poodle. She stopped in front of the other poodle's cage and barked out a soft, but rapid-fire torrent of French. The cell's inmate seemed to wilt and cower.
'Wow! What did you say??' asked Bear. 'Do you wanna play?' cried Buster.
Stella fired one last withering look at her fellow countrydog. Then turning to the boys, she said :
'I have told her that I will NEVAIR share a cell with a collaborator.' She walked on, until she reached Dakota's lacquered door. It opened.
'Honey!' cried Dakota. 'Cherie,' said Stella.
Starry-eyed, Bear and Buster slipped through the magic gap to join the ladies in Dakota's suite.
'Maintenant.' said Stella, softly. 'Ilsa will be weeth us tomorrow. Jacques will put her on a feeshing trawler bound from Marseilles to Dover tonight. The ship's dog is one of us ....'
The four dogs put their heads together -
('Yeah,' wheespered Buster, 'but does anyone want to PLAY?')
Stella looked at him, not unkindly. 'And you are...?' Buster looked confused ...
(Up theme music ...)
'The name's BOO. Buster-Boo,'

and with that Boo turned his back on Stella and flounced down next to Lex. Dakota went to him and said" Sweet Boo, Stella meant no harm in asking your name. She knows who you are my dear and what part you are to play in this escape." "She only asked to get you to say something." You must realize that this is serious and someone could get hurt if they are not careful, so you must pay attention now sweet Boo. Lex come over and comfort your brother please."
Just then Dakotas squeay toy started to vibrate and Dakota flipped it opened and listened. Slowly she closed it and said... "It has begun."
"Ilsa is at the tunnel entrance with Jacques, waiting to be let in. Bear woould you be a dear and fetch them please."
and with that Bear and Boo left Dakotas suite.
after they left Dakota turned to the others and said " now that they are gone I must confide in you all."..............."What you think will be happening in the next 24 hours will take a lot longer if Gunther doesn't come back soon."

As the days turned into nights Gunther kept a distant eye on the happenings in the kennel. He needed to keep a closer watch on the guards, to make sure they were none the wiser. His loyal dog Shep the the old English sheep dog gave him daily reports, and help to keep the waters calm.
Even the seasoned Shep could not be sure of the loyalties in the kennel. He sought out Dakota late one night to relay some important details. The last guard left every night at midnight. And although Gunther would be the guard on duty, there were several motion detectors around the compound, that would trigger the silent alarm, and summoning back up. Now Gunther does a system check every night between O3 and O4 hundred. At this time the security system is on standby, and as long as no major gates are opened no alarms will sound. Shep also warned that not all prisoners were there against there will, so this was on a as need to know info.
