Well, an easy one today in honour of the 34th anniversary of the opening of the Big M (Meadowlands).
Who won (horse AND driver) the first pari-mutuel race at the Big M? Bonus points if you know where the driver is from. Extra bonus if you know what horse won the the Feature Race that night.

Meadowlands Racetrack - Harness History An Opening Day crowd of 42,133 streamed in as harness racing on a mile track made its debut in the metropolitan area. Rambling Willie took the opening night feature in 1:553, and would be the first of many great racehorses who would leave their "hoofprints" on the East Rutherford oval.
Ray Remmen won the very first race with Quick Baron and would later establish himself as the top trainer through the first two decades at the Meadowlands.
Young Quinn posted the first-ever 1:55 mile at the Big M. Other notables which raced here in the inaugural season included Silk Stockings, Tarport Hap, Keystone Pioneer, Savoir and Oil Burner.
How this ;D ;D

Very good Brooks. I remember when Ray went east. We weren't too sure how he would do, but he did just fine. He has now about handed the reins over to brother Larry, with brother Gord holding down the Canadian base. I know Ray was home not that long ago but never had the chance to see him. Current stable star for the brothers Remmen is Shark Gesture despite his abyssmal performance in th CPD on Saturday. Others he has had: Jennas Beach Boy, Mach Three, Shiaway St Pat (whom he drove to victory in the 81 Hambo) Beach Towel, lots of the good ones.

The latest confirmed news says that the dwarf in the video Safety Dance is Mike Edmonds ("Return of the Jedi", "Time Bandits", "Harry Potter"). No one knows who the girl is. Someone e-mailed us to tell us that he had kept all the props from the video shoot!
Ivan lives in Montreal, Stefan lives in a small town in the Laurentian mountains of Quebec about an hour north of Montreal, Colin lives in Victoria on Vancouver island, teaches voice and sings with the Victoria Opera Company, Lenny lives in Montreal and works in computers, Marika lives in southern California, Heidi lives in New Jersey, Allan died of AIDS about 6 years ago, Jerry Arrobas is in telemarketing and living in Mtl, John Gurin is a university professor, Jean-Marc writes jingles in Mtl, the still Famous Al Gunn hasn't left the island of Montreal since the tour in 1985, Bruce Murphy's a dentist in Ottawa, and Tracy Howe lives in Ontario and recently retired from music.

"Dancez!" ;D You're too good, Brooks! I was so in love with Ivan, but ... looks don't last! I heard that the girl was the daughter of the then Canadian Prime Minister - I think it was before Pierre Trudeau - but Tee will know. But I don't know! We can dance if we wanna... MTS - yes Time Bandits!

;D ;D
The creepers tugged the three witches through the chink in the wall, and the knight was dragged off his steed after them. The furious screams of the disappointed throng rose upon the morning air, then fell silent as the garden walls sealed once more.
What book, chapter.

MTS - yes Time Bandits! good grief Bara!! I have no clue who that girl was.....rumour also said it may have been Margaret Trudeau but she is too old. I honestly cannot think of a Canadian PM that had a daughter before Mulroney (meaning someone who would have been 20 something in the 80's) meaning the choice was limited to someone middle aged or more then, or nothing. Trudeau only had male children. Now some digging produced the information the Safety Dance girl and the Pop Goes the World girl are one and the same, likely, therefore, someone affiliated with the band in some fashion.
