And it's a humdinger this time!!! Get out your googles, dig out your dogpiles, batten down your bings.......well, anyway, here we go!! What musical instrument started out as a spy device pre-WWII and was used as such through a good portion of the Cold War? Hints to follow as needed, if needed

Theremin
An Etherwave-Theremin, assembled from Robert Moog's kit: the loop antenna on the left controls the volume while the upright antenna controls the pitch Electronic instrument Hornbostel-Sachs classification 53 (Electrophone) Inventor(s) Léon Theremin Developed 1919
The theremin (/ˈθɛrəmɪn/[1]), originally known as the aetherphone / etherophone, Thereminophone[2] or termenvox / thereminvox is an early electronic musical instrument controlled without contact from the player. It is named after its Russian inventor, Professor Léon Theremin, who patented the device in 1928. The controlling section usually consists of two metal antennas which sense the position of the player's hands and control oscillators for frequency with one hand, and amplitude (volume) with the other. The electric signals from the theremin are amplified and sent to a loudspeaker.
The theremin is associated with a very eerie sound, which has led to its use in movie soundtracks such as those in Spellbound, The Lost Weekend, and The Day the Earth Stood Still and as the theme tune for the ITV drama Midsomer Murders. Theremins are also used in art music (especially avant-garde and 20th- and 21st-century new music) and in popular music genres such as rock. Psychedelic Rock bands in particular, such as Hawkwind, have often used the theremin in their work.

VERY good, Brooks. How long did it take you to find that??
The theremin was originally designed as a spy device for non-electic communication scanning. Theremin discovered that proximity of the hands to the rods would also make eerie sounding music. He demonstrated the instrument to Lennin then returned to his work on using the technology for picking up sound. It worked. Soviet Russia used the device well into the cold war. The instrument resurfaced as the maker of background music for sci-fi flics, was used on Star Trek and by bands such as the Beach Boys (Good VIbrations), Led Zeppelin (Whole Lotta Love and others)

Jerry Lee Lewis’ “Whole Lotta Shakin Goin’ on.
Fill in the missing middle word in each trio below so the first two form a scientific term and the last two form a different term. Eg. dry ice age = dry ice and ice age. Go.
1 dry ICE age 2 strobe __________ wave 3 binary ___________ fish 4 food ____________ reaction 5 heavy ___________ table
