;D ;D Okay - who was jingling their curb chains when I wasn't looking? Was driving around and saw a little place where they had a sign up that says "Stalls for Rent". It's literally 10 minutes down the road from me. Called it and we met the guy out there this evening. It's just a few acres and his 3 horses plus one other boarder. Nothing fancy, but a sturdy barn with tack room and wash rack, place to store hay, etc. He's a team penner and trail rider - older guy with grandkids. Used to manage a pretty big boarding operation. He's there every day and the other boarder lives just across the road. He'll let us have two stalls for less than what it would cost to pasture board the three horses at the current place, AND he'll pick up our horses for free and trailer them over, since it's not very far! It's about like you would have for your own backyard operation. Works just fine for us! HOORAY! All we need now are those D***ED Coggins papers for Adair.

Shannon! That's great news!! I love it when things work out in sneaky little out of the blue ways! How perfect. Don't you just kick yourself in the shins for not knowing it a month ago??
Good luck. It really does sound perfect and like you can avoid the "boarding Barn Blues" because its smaller, closer and no offense anyone , run by a man.
Is there still a hold up with Adairs Coggins??? Why?

Here I'm just wishing you luck and you already have it. ;D Sounds great, one of my favorite places I boarded was a backyard operation, 7 miles from home and just down the road from where my Friend Jamie had her horse. Could ride down to the Polo fields or in the forest preserve and traffic back then wasn't what it is now. Sigh Memoriesssssss...... Loved it, but moved Flynn to a friends boarding barn when I went in the Air Force, cause the owner had some health issues. In fact, sadly he passed away while I was in England, so it was a good thing I moved Flynn to the other barn.

Shannon - That's great news ! And so close, too. Maybe the old guy will have you team penning on Adair before you know it.;D At any rate, he should have lots of horse savvy without the obnoxious and jealous attitude! Sounds like the perfect solution. ClaireLV - I believe "Get the 'ell out of Dodge" refers to the days when Dodge City, KS, was a lawless cattle town. Cattle drives from Texas ended there, and from there, the cattle were shipped (via railroad) to California, Chicago, etc. The "cowboys" were typically unsavory types and after a long drive would amuse themselves with getting drunk in the saloons and shooting each other. Thus, someone with common sense did not want to stick around Dodge City any longer than necessary. (at least that's my take from what I read in a Kansas History book!)

Oh man, this sounds just absolutely PERFECT for you! And the man says Peanut the PoNee Mule can come along and board outside too? It will be JUST like having your own place with two caretakers on staff.... small and personal and sounds like a couple of normal-type people without issues! YAY! Yup, he's probably happy to find a way to fill up his barn with one paying customer, so he's thrilled to go pick up your herd. Wonder if he'll put them all in the same trailer. Now, you can have the guy call your vet to document Adair's Neg. Coggins result, if he needs it prior to hauling him....that's all he needs is to make sure no one has equine infectious anemia. right? Is THAT the disease Coggins tests for? hmmmm... Last summer when I needed a quickie (overnight) negative Coggins for the pony ( for his show) I had the vet draw the blood, and I drove it to the state lab myself and picked up the result the next day myself and therefore avoided the long wait. It was very easy! Maybe you could do something like that for your herd and get everyone re-tested with a current Coggins so you can move them immediately.

Did anyone ever tell you that you have a Type A personality?? (every day, no doubt!) And I thought I was beating the clock by having those test results FAXED! Too funny!!
