I read The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold.. It was certainly extraordinary... I couldn't put it down and read it in one sitting... But at the end I just felt wierd. I didn't feel resolved.. The ending lacked. But I'm not sure how it could have ended without going on and on and on. Anyone else? ? ?

I read the Lovely Bones. I think it ended the only way it could. I was glad I read it, but wouldn't read it again.

I LOVED that book! It was certainly unique and I agree about the somewhat unsatisfying ending (and it was a little unbelievable in a book that made the rest of the unbelievable story completely believable?). I don't know if I still have my copy of it or if I've already loaned it on. I'll check and post it in the swap if I find it.

I loved that one too! Picked it up at the airport one year when I realized (GASP) I had nothing to read. Rather, um, dark, but well done! I gave it to my MIL.

I thought this book was really, really creative, and that the author did a good job of creating a voice for the main character's spirit. It would have been so easy to slip into a cloying perspective. And I thought it was interesting how the author interpreted how a soul 'feels' about things left behind. I liked the ending and agree with the comment made earlier about this ending being really the only way the story could be closed. Two thumbs up from Chicagoland.
