For the first 2/3 of the book, I thought it was GREAT. Then I don't know if they switched editors, or just didn't know how to get out of a plot dilema, but it went totally lame. If this book were a race horse, the line would read, " Pulled up lame and did not finish."

yeah, another couple of paws in the air from chicago. i loved the book. it had an ethereal quality i found interesting, with a plot that was gripping. i think the ending sort of slipped away, like a ghost. and there were parts of that book that made me so anxious. like heart leaping out of the chest anxious. and then i cried, and felt happy too. great journey.

I have to agree.. but perhaps it was because I read the book in one sitting and it was about one am by the time I got it finished so I was tired, but i agree the ending did kind of "slip away" I loved the beginning but didn't like when everyone grew up.... maybe that says something about me? I didn't like her being left behind... hmmmm

What a weird book is all I can say. Who would like it next? Or I'll just send it back to Goaliemom. I did want to read it though and am glad I did.

Brooks, does that mean you didn't like it or you did? Or it was just so different that judgment is out still?
I found it to be quite unlike anything I've ever read....a strange combination of genres and topics but it definitely kept me in. It still stands out in my mind and I don't know if it was because it was good, different, gripping, eery or what.........

It's going to be a movie...http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0380510/
I'll have to check and see if the library has a copy.
I found it as an online read from Amazon. lol

Lynne - It was just not my kind of book, so no I didn't like it. I plowed through thinking it would get better but it didn't. Also I know that it's being made into a movie by Peter Jackson (LOTR) so I thouhgt it might be worth reading. Goaliemom - Megan - Give me you home address in a PM and it's yours ;D

I just finished reading it. I, too, liked the first 2/3s of the book, and then it did sort of fall apart. But, like Brooks said.....it just wasn't my 'type' of book. But, it did give me a new perspective on how much lives can be changed by the needless death of a child.
Thank you Megan for sending the book on to me. If anyone else would like to read it, just PM me with your address and I will get it out as soon as possible. ;D
