Geez Bara, give me a little time!! I have book overload! It was supposed to be at the library, but I couldn't find it on the shelf, so I'll have to request it next week.

I'm staring at the book as I type. I haven't had a chance either to pick it up and enjoy it.

Bara, you should read it in the haunted ruin of an old abbey. Surely there's one next door? Take a thermos of tea and sandwiches. And a blanket for the chills. Report back soon.

Hmmm. Not so sure, Ann. DID have an old priory a couple of years ago - but not now.
Did anyone else see 'it' coming a mile away? Won't say more.
Sorry. Have always been a prolific reader, and right now, gulping books at a single sitting.
Right. Onto the 10th Circle. Started it between the other two, but ...
OK! Let's have a go!

Yep. I'm with you, Claire, of the two - Water for Elephants. I can't work out when The 13th Tale is set? 1940's? 1950's?
Have just abandoned the 10th Circle (again!) for the moment, and just started Zadie Smith's 'On Beauty'.

I was once a prolific reader, too. Just out of practice right now. I am getting my "brain; reading gears in action again, though". I've got a lot of catching up to do what with "Harry Potter" just coming to my house!! On a positive side, Max claims I'm a speed reader, 'cause I can scan the channels on the satellite remote a lot faster than he can!!!!! "Water for Elephants"; "The Tenth Circle" and "The Thirteenth" will be here this coming week!! I will get caught up!!!

I'm reading the wrong "13"! 13 Moons. Not your typical novel, but very interesting. I'm almost done. Will get Water for Elephants next.

What's 13 Moons about niaru?

It's set in the Southern mountains at the time of the Removal when Indians were "relocated" by the governement, and is about the way 2 men (a bound white boy and the Cherokee who adopted him) tried to preserve their Cherokee "nation". It's also about love and politics and money. I guess I liked it because I don't know much about the Indians' plight.

Nairu, I enjoyed 13 Moons to a point, and then it got kind of trite to me. The end seemed to be rushed, and too cut and dried. What did you think?

I agree Thea, the end is not very good, and what's with those "silent" phone calls...lol I think he should have written his hero's death. But overall, an interesting read.
