The little chestnut one looks the most like Rita in conformation - nice and compact and athletic. Even her face looks a little like her, even though she's chestnut and not a bay. The grey is very flashy! That's a beautiful trot pic on the b@y. And the dark b@y looks sturdily built - good bone in those legs. Those are four nice looking mares. I wouldn't be able to choose one or the other of THOSE. I guess buy all four. Yes, that is what I suggest. Just like I did for GD.

I keep forgetting that the magic word for the day is B@Y and keep getting the censored word Smushed Banana! That is making me go NUTS! Maybe we better pick a much less USED word! Like "Brian" or "California"

she has a nice long shoulder and short back, and appears to be well balanced. Nice hip on her, too.

I loff number 4! She's so elegant and floats so lightly across my computer screen! Pretty pretty! SMay and CatB are right about all that hip and bone conformation stuff, too! You're spotting some lovelies.

Niaru, I love that last one, but is that some funky clip job or what?

... because of her clip job, but she almost looks like she has a level or uphill build! Am I seeing straight? WOWEE, that's unusual for a TB. She is another athletic one. You pick mares and fillies with nice necks Niaru - many fillies have necks that I consider too thin or poorly placed, but these all have nice ones. Sure is fun to look at pictures all day. Very entertaining.

Niaru, I felt the same way about Shorty, I thought getting another exracer meant replacing him. I felt that way up until I met Porter. When he stepped of the trailer, I KNEW he was different. When you're ready, you'll know the one, at least I did. Don't feel guilty OK? Michelle

I could buy them all, Smay...!! But it seems everyone likes the cute little chestnut . She only had 9 starts on turf, with winters off--> low mileage. They say she's gentle and gregarious ( ) Hmmm I guess I'll have to go see her (them)...I like the built of the first one, altho it's hard to tell with her winter furries. The grey IS flashy, but her back is SO short...that very last one is built like a WB! Funky clip it is. But 16h is a tad tall for me. Hey, Michelle, how is Porter doing?

Eww niaru, Looove that first one! Maybe because she looks like Carambi's twin sister!
The older mare looks nice but she appears to have a huge dip in front of her withers.

to have you. I do have to say that the grey is really nice. But you will know when you see them in person.

I rode Nancy's mare, which is my weekly workout, she's so lazy it takes all I have (and a very swift dressage whip) to keep her round and forward. it's easier when I ride without stirrups (in a feeble attempt to get my short legs around her ). The barn manager was laughing, and asked me if i wanted to ride her new OTT. He's a 15'3-16hish, thin, non-descript brown horse who won a 1/2 million dollar in his days, and he's so quiet that she'll keep him for her kids and students. I rode him in a hackamore around the indoor, walk-trot, no prob. All he does is putting his head down and shaking it for 'play'. As we were trotting past the big mirror he froze to look at himself, the goof. He's a cutie!! The barn manager perked up when I told her about the mares I saw on the CANTER site, she had her eye on the funky clipped one too! But that mare seems to have been sold. I couldn"t find her on the site yesterday. So if i decide to go down to look at hose horses, I'll have a few knowledgeable people with me

I'm glad you got to ride Kmoms mare and the "nondescript" horse too! Must be awfully hard to go riding and/or go to the barn after losing your beautiful mare, but to keep riding "something" is a good method of lifting your mood. Especially when it's a goofy gelding in a hackamore! tee hee! I'm glad you're able to carry on and keep the faith! It will be hard to find a new mare to match Rita but those ones you showed were all pretty cute. Try looking at that chestnut. I think she seems the most like Rita, in looks anyway.
