I'm curious about the dressage bit checks. At what level do they do that? At my local level, KCDS (Kansas City Dressage Society), I haven't seen it done, but I've read about it. Also, I don't know if you saw my post that was buried in the "Training for Concentration" thread, but I was just wondering if you still had your Selle Francais mare for sale and if you had any pics you could post of her? ;D

CatB--In every level of recognised eventing, it is required that the competitors use only approved equipment, and here in the Northeast, most (but not all) organizers do this by designating a person to inspect every horse before going into the dressage. Usually this is done by putting one's finger into the horse's mouth to feel the bit (thus contaminating each horse with the saliva of every horse that had gone before). The rule change, which allows one to take off her horse's bridle for insection after the test, is in the rule book and affects all levels, as far as I can tell. The year that I campaigned agaist bit checks, there was a virus going around the NE area which closed many horse competions, so the danger was very real. I think the USCTA was very responsible in making the new rule, but I wish it hadn't taken so long or so many phone calls. Yes, my mare is still for sale. I have to set up a web page apparently, to be able to post here, but you can see her in ad #12060 (listed under "warmbloods") at www.EquineSite.com . I raised her from a foal, and it's going to be hard to part with her, but my new horse (an OTTB which I saw last summer) is arriving in 10 days, so it's going to get crowded here.

Whu OH! CatB is in trouble! That is a GORgeous horse kmom! So you've kind of been contemplating this haven't you CatB. That horse is most definitely worth the money, but that's money I couldn't spend for a horse. Dream on...that's why they call it Dream Horse I guess! hahaha
