Wow, that's one big round pen! Very cool pics, it's good to see your Tango, who's a gelding right? Well, he's very handsome! How long has he been off the track?

Okay, think I got it fixed! As you can tell, my equitation still needs some work, but a friend took these pics right before Christmas. I hadn't ridden Tango in over 4 weeks and he was great! Really quiet and very attentive.
My trainer is going to help me straighten him out some (he likes to drop the inside shoulder and lean) and get him a little more engaged from behind. These are all results of some of my riding faults but I'm hoping she'll be able to get him going correctly then help me to make sure I'm balanced and asking correctly. I can feel when what he's doing and know it's not correct. On a horse that knows the cues, I can get that shoulder back up but don't know how to teach Tango the cue.
Also, I included just one before picture so you can see how far he's come in a year!

Michele, I got him Dec. a year ago. He'd been off the track for about 9 months but he wasn't being worked at all. He was still a stud so he was in a small paddock or in his stall so his muscle tone was lacking, too. Once he was healed from gelding him, he started working right away. It was great while he was out of shape and confused with where his feet went. Now, he's in great shape and very confident. Thanks, he's pretty sweet...although trying at times!

Tango has lovely conformation! I like the riding pics too! Isn't it hard to take glamorous photos in the winter? Gosh, you just can't get a fuzzy horse shiny! I love your "portrait" picture with Tango - that's a winner!

Thanks for the confirmation compliments. They mean alot!
I truely knew very little before I bought him. When I told my trainer I was seriously considering buying a horse, I kind of thought she would "find" something for me. Although she did put a few feelers out for me, she did not take an active role. She really prefers her students to find their own mounts (assuming of course, that is appropriate for that particular student). Her point was she can always find something sound and capable, but there is that intangible element, "chemistry" that you can't pick out for someone else. Anyway, I got a CRASH course in confirmation. I looked at several horses, left a deposit on one that turned out to be very shady and I pulled out, and finally found Tango. My trainer was very supportive, looked at pictures and gave me lots of advise on what to look for, things to ask, etc. She went with me to pick up Tango and gave me feedback and her approval before we brought him home. I really cant believe how much I've learned in the last 16-18 months. Sometimes I feel like a sponge, there is SO MUCH more I need to learn, I just try and soak in everything I can.
You guys are all so knowlegdeable, it's nice to hear it from others. I know he has a few faults (as they all do) but nothing I think that will be major for the lower level stuff I'm looking to do with him.
Hopefully, I'll have some jumping pictures in a few weeks...if this darned rain will ever stop!
