Tangos cuts and scrapes have healed up pretty good but she has a stange swelling along the one cut that was on the outside rear leg along the cannon bone but close to her tendon. I had the vet out yesterday for her check up and he is a lil worried about stress on the tendon cuase of the swelling being so close to it. He wants me to keep her in tendon support boots. Ive been looking around but I have no experince with these kinda wraps/boots. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice. I dont really like the idea of keeping her in boots or wraps all the time but for now thats what we have to do I guess. I am going to try to get another vet to look at her soon so I can just get a second opinion about this althou I do tust my vet I think it is a good idea, I dont like the way the swelling has settled so close, almost on, that tendon.

I would recommend wrapping over boots from my experience. I kept Madeline in no-bows and polo wraps for several months after her splint bone was broken and I never had any problems. When she hurt her leg this past September, I had her wrapped with no bows and standing wraps for about a month. I tried using SMB's but they rubbed (especially when they got wet) and caused more heat and swelling. I got a lot better results with the wrapping, especially if they're going to be on several hours a day.

What you need is actually call "No Bow" wraps, they are the white quilts that go under your polo or standing bandages. check out statelinetack.com or doversaddlery.com, lots of places have them and there not expensive. make sure you wrap in the right direction, to pull the tendon inward (towards the other leg). Good luck

I like the no bow wraps too and have them along with standard quilts. If you need something right away and can't wait for Dover to deliver, two regular white quilts and a standing wrap (I was told you can't pull standing wraps as tight so you are safer) are a good substitute. I use both combinations, but if I go with the quilt I always use two at a time.
