I must be an idiot. I went out this morning, took Cypress on a nice walk. She was very quiet, calm, sweet. Walking without a trace of lameness, even though that hock still looks weird. It's such a gorgeous morning, and she's been cooped up so long and she seemed so quiet....so I turned her loose in a grass ring behind the barn. She can see other horses nearby, but there aren't any in the ring with her. With in 1.5 seconds she drops and rolls and is obviously in heaven. I don't worry, because she's obviously been lying down and getting up in her stall, so this can't be much different. I watch her go down and get up...no problem. She walks and grazes calmly for another 10 minutes, then starts to roll again. First one side, then the other. Then, NO WARNING, she erupts into a bucking canter depart FROM THE GROUND! I swear, the whole thing happened in one huge move! (Insert long string of censor symbols here!) She tore around the ring once, looking rather surprised, like, "Hey! This is me! What am I doing galloping?" But she stopped at the gate and waited obediently for me when I asked her to. I walked her around for a while to see if she began to look lame when the adrenalin subsided, but so far, not a hint of soreness. I am afraid of what I might see when I go out later. I've been had.

No offense but HEE HEE HEE....It had to be quite a site. And here you are all worried about her (not to mention everything else) and she convinces you that she is calm and sane, healing appropriately SOunds like she must not be feeling too bad. Wasn't the vet coming out today though? Is she still sound? yeesh...they just like to keep us on our toes...or keep their toes on us?

My horse does the same thing. I have come to expect that as soon as he finishes rolling, he is going to leap up and canter around the pasture. I guess it is a game to see if they are fast enough to escape a predator?

Hehehe, my boys do that. Flynn does it with an amazing amount of flare and grace. Zen does it with an explosion. Good to hear Cypress is feeling good. Oh, by the way, the look wasn't "Hey! This is me! What am I doing galloping?" It was "Ooops, Mom saw that, shoot now she's gonna want to ride me."
