Give it up, it's time to admit it. As for me, my work schedule has made my horse schedule minimal these days, but that's life sometimes. Guy is well and seems to enjoy his life as a 'pet.' I still laugh at those horse ads where the person claims they are holding their horse back in their career. Guy seems quite content in his, or perhaps his lack of a career. In the meantime, trying to figure out what birds like what suet the best. The peanut butter suet seems to be the easiest to get birds attracted to. Attachments:

Ok - now I have a bit more time to write.
I do check in here - I think a few others might from time-to-time, too. I miss the old days of it being busy.
Even with the horses at home, I spend maybe 20 minutes a day with them, especially right now when it's cold & rainy & we're up to our kneecaps in mud. (Although this new farm isn't as muddy as the last place - thank goodness!!) Like Guy, I don't think a one of them minds that they don't have a career, but I do feel badly for them sometimes when they are in the surrender lot for the winter. I know I would go stir crazy sitting there. Hubby is building them a permanent wood run-in shelter with an attached tack room.
I've been giving some idle (sometimes more serious) thought to selling most of them & getting into mini horses. I have one horse that will stay with me forever, but the other horses are younger, great horses and still have good life left in them. I don't feel bad that they don't have a career, but I DO think they are good horses that someone could enjoy. My daughter, as much as I have tried, just hasn't picked up the horse bug. And hubby & I just don't ride much, because we're too busy taking care of the farm, working & busy with the kiddo. They are big pets, and expensive pets. Our hay bill this year was around $1k. Which isn't bad, all in all, but still...
But it's a hard decision to make, and one that I don't want to make lightly. We'll see.
Anyway...otherwise, life is good. Not much has changed for me. Just plugging towards retirement in a few years!

Yeah, I think it's a matter of getting people to admit it. Much as I miss some of our ER crew, I'm still in touch with many and have no regrets at not jumping on the Facebook thing.
At this point I am a one horse at a time kinda person, but I do have to do the boarding thing. Having a backyard would make it too easy to accumulate more.
I think Guy is coming around to it's OK to have my full attention. I just wish I had more time to spend with him. Lately I've been lucky to have one day a week between work and weather. In that, it's probably just as well that I have a pony with some issues, as anyone who was 'serious' would not have been happy with him. As for me, he's cute, fuzzy, and makes me laugh. Which is just what I need in a horse these days.

Considering how many views, I'm thinking it's more than us, but for some reason they don't want to admit it.
Expensive as it can be to board horses, it does limit how many one can purchase far better than a big backyard.
