It rained here, and it is STILL raining here. We have had well over 2" here since Friday and it is still coming down but slowing gradually. It is muddy, and ducks can probably swim in the slough at the east end of the yard and I can't get out but on the plus side. the electric fence is working because with all the water, it is grounded really well and I hear the ticks through the radio. Far worse are the areas east of here that are under water from several inches of rain - up to 8" over the weekend on top of what they got in the preceding three weeks. Highways are washed out, bridges are washed out, people are stranded either at home or away from home, they can't get to their livestock to check on them, crops are washed out and homes flooded. Most places in that area have overtaxed sewer systems with the run-off and some cities and towns so badly they told people to limit toilet flushing, bathing, and avoid using washing machines and dishwashers. I think there might be problems with the rail system, hardly any trains here since Friday and because of the bad roads, there is much less traffic on the highway. Also noticed, when I watched the football game yesterday, half empty stands, something that never happens here: average attendance to a game is 30,000 with play-off games selling an additional 10,000 tickets for the temp seating but yesterday, people just could not get to the game and those who did, waded to get there. pictures and article here - www.cjme.com/story/photos-damage-storm-impacts-thousands-sask/379573

How about too much rain, plus too much wind= no electricity. The good thing this time not much in the freezer and was able to get ice about 20 miles SW Of me, so everything in the fridge is on ice. OK and finally got a smart phone so can keep in touch. Of course I'm trying to refi/ my house and can't scan stuff for the loan officer. And zen has an abscess, and my glasses broke, and the truck is in the shop, and.... at least it's a holiday week and I'll be off Friday. Hope fully the power will be back on too.

My green bean plants have been starved of oxygen and have died. There is just too much rain. There are still too many fields not planted yet and the window is closing on being able to plant corn. There are still over 7,000 homes without electric and the PTBs say it won't be restored until Sat. The neighbors shot off fireworks and Goal went through the hay feeder as he got so scared. He is okay, but I don't think I will ever care for fireworks again.

As of last night's news, there are 57 communities east of here that have declared a state of emergency - everything under water, some with no power, no access, in other words the whole laundry list. Our Premier flew over the flooded area and declared it worse than 2011. Early estimates for damage are 350 million.
Farmers lost crops and are now hoping for hail on top of it as crop insurance will cover hail damage. Saw a clip yesterday of a cattleman herding his cattle across a water filled coulee in a motor boat. Roads are still being closed as the soaked dirt just washes away.
I just have mud.

Careful what you wish for Brooks. Not as much rain, but still no power. Hopefully by tonight. Sheesh. Anyway, hope things get better your way soon Tee. Besides the storms that knocked out the power around here the weather's been do able as far as not needing AC. I here our next storm may be this Sunday. Hopefully all the trees that could fall on the power lines have already done so.

I'm ok, just hoping it doesn't rain more anywhere in Saskatchewan and Manitoba for the next few days.
Now 75 communities have been declared disaster areas

Woo Hoo! I have power! OK, it came on last night, but wow. Even though I knew the power was out I kept trying to turn lights on. The weird thing was, the Sunday before the Monday I lost power, when I was at the hardware store, on a lark, I bought one of these www.menards.com/main/electrical/batteries-flashlights/flashlights/lanterns/energizer-reg-fusion-led-pop-up-lantern/p-2084129.htm only it was on a much better local sale price at the time. Never imagined I'd be using it the next day. OK, next several days. Lost everything in the freezer, but with coolers and ice I didn't lose anything from the fridge. . Other then that, the weather was mild enough that not having AC wasn't an issue and since I have city water and a gas water heater, all was good for taking showers. Let's hope it's many years before this happens again. Last time was 7 years ago. If it starts happening more often I'm getting a generator. Or at least making sure I have propane for the camper so I can cook lots of freezer food before it goes bad. The good news is, the barn managed to get half their hayfield done and hopefully will be able to do the other half in a week or so. Since it's at about Late May or early June growth, it's not too bad, though the next half will likely be a little stalkier. As it is, more storms tomorrow.
