That's where my Grandfather started to really get the reality of WWII. He was with the 2nd Med Evac in WWII, so though he wasn't on the front lines, he was close and saw the worst of those that didn't die that day. That's my Grandfather in the middle, not sure of where they were at the time.

Wonderful picture, Zen. The news has been flooded with D-Day 70th anniversary, here. It's been amazing. Veterans in their late-80's and some 90 yr-olds who attended the Normandy landings have been back there - both US and UK.
They were boy soldiers at the time.

Thank my Grandfather for it, he enlisted. I believe that picture might have been in France. I have one of his shirts from when his unit was having reunions. I think the last one they had was the year he died. Perhaps they had one more? He didn't go. Partly from his physical issues, partly from so many had passed and it was hard to go as it became a who's still alive reunion. His unit certainly got around. The farms he stayed at love him, as he know how to drive a team of horses and such.

Only the Yanks! You know what they used to say, Zen? Over-paid, over sexd and over here! Every girl wanted a GI! I have a feeling that my own mother got her share of chocolate. I think his name was Gene.. But then, who am I?
