Don't like it...but, remember, loads of groups used full orchestration years ago: Moody Blues, Procol Harum, and many more.

Oh, LORD!!! I've just read the comments under Whiter Shade of Pale. The sound engineer was Keith Grant. My neighbour of many, many years on the river. It was Keith and Jenny Grant who took me in when my house burned down. I sat on their landing stage and watched the fire over the river, taking my house.... I had no idea, at that time, that Keith was a music producer - although we sat at his piano and jammed that night. I'm a bit overwhelmed. I looked them up, recently, to phone Jen, and found that Keith had died, on his boat, of a heart attack. He was a larger than life character. He looked like a big bear - drank like a fish. Jenny is a gentle 'earth-mother' type. So - rest in peace, Big Bear, with Little Bear Law. I can't say we were ever friends, but they were certainly good neighbours. www.telegraph.co.uk/news/obituaries/culture-obituaries/music-obituaries/9539311/Keith-Grant.html

What a cool neighbor and good neighbor you had. That was crazy the way you lost your house. Glad I got to stay there if only one time. It was a great time.

Yes, I'm glad you came there. I lived there 22 years - it was such a wrench when it went.
When I first moved there, in 1988, the Grants lived next door (as you cross the weir, first on your left, Zen.)
But they moved, just across the river, shortly thereafter. (Just the other side from my boat, Zen.)
My memory of Keith Grant is nothing to do with music. It's when they were moving from one house to the other. Jenny had cooked Sunday lunch at the old house - but they were eating it at the new place.
Keith sailed past my landing stage, holding aloft a gravy boat ...
