it seems the same production company that is doing the "Downton Abbey" series also did the "Poirot" series. They both have some of the same actors. I am watching Poirot's Sad Cypress right now and the murderer is the house keeper from Downton Abbey. They are older of course, it's fun to see them again.

I STILL haven't caught Downton, but I still love the re-runs of Poirot. I love the Art Deco buildings and furniture.

Brooks - loads of Downton cast members have appeared in loads of shows besides Poirot, which I loathe, btw. Watched Jim Carter in a period series with Judi Dench (Candleford or something like that is in the title). Brendan Coyle appeared in many series as a bad guy and Rob James-Collier and Joanne Froggatt both were in Coronation Street.
An aside to this - watched Heartbeat last night and saw a 10 year old Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom) playing a rather unpleasant kid, as far from Neville as possible. I had to look it up on imdb to make sure I was right. The newest pic of Lewis shows he grew up from a rather plain child to a real hottie.

What is about Poirot that you don't like ? This is the one with David Sachet. I know the stories don't always follow the books. I love all the period things they have used, houses, buildings, CARS!!! and of course the TRAINS !!!! All steam of course. Where did they find them all ?
I am sure I can find some more good shows to watch from BBC.

The list is long and starts with the actor and runs the gamut through trite and insipid dialogue to bad story telling - kinda like Columbo gone all pear shaped and ending with that stupid accent and fake moustache. I cannot even bear Suchat narrating things. About all that is right is the trains.
As to shows -Lewis, A Touch of Frost, Midsomer Murders, Miss Marple (love the ones with Geraldine McEwan), Inspector Lynley, Inspector George Gentley, New Tricks (nice mix of suspense and comedy), The Commander, Wire in the Blood, Wallander, Scott & Bailey (you HAVE to try this one), Prime Suspect (Helen Mirran), Case Histories (Jason Isaacs). These are some that have shown up here at various times.
