A few days before Christmas eve we were at walmart and saw season 1, we really wanted something new to watch. We couldn't stop watching episode after episode, Brian then HAD to go and get season 2&3. We are now all caught up and have pre-ordered season 4 LOL Can you imagine living in that huge house/castle ? With all those servants I have read up on the Highclare Castle, how wonderful and what history. And all the old stuff they have in it. They did a wonderful job with all the period things, cars, clothes, horse drawn carriages, etc. The cast is wonderful too.............Maggie Smith

Brooks, send Brian to the library to check out this book: The World of Downton Abbey. You will love reading about the historically accurate parts of the program.

There was also a documentary on TV last year (?) about the actual owners of the house. The woman has a grey Arab that she rides. Seems like a waste not to have a whole barn of horses in that place!
I love the series too. I wish we'd seen more fox hunting scenes...

Ann - Yes I have it already. Really interesting to read.
niaru - Each of the seasons DVD's has a "special features". They tell about the making of series and about the clothes, cast, etc. There is one about the real owner of the Castle.
