Duncan's new mom sent me some Christmas pictures. Santa even brought Duncan a new comfy bed!

Super! I wish I'd had that from Boo's new mum. Never mind, I sent him a big bag of food from Lexie and Joe.

They really are great people. We talk all the time, and he not only is a companion for her son with cerebal palsy, but the whole family just loves him. I have become his permanent dog sitter, and can see him anytime i want. Dont know if this sounds bad, but i dont feel the need to go visit him, because he has a better home than he did with me. Im not to proud to say that.

Not a better home, just one better suited where he can be the only dog. Doesn't make it better.

Her son is 27, and basically he is like having a baby all the time. Karen loves him, and has taken care of him all these years, even though he is blind, and cannot communicate. Her husband works 2nd shift, and Duncan is her companion. She talks to him all the time, and at night she says she feels safer with him in the house. Duncan always had a very deep intimidating bark even as a puppy. So while we know he is harmless others don't!!! I think it is a better home. It seems like it was meant to be, and fate seems to guide us where we belong. All the work, and training I did with Duncan, seems like I was getting him ready for his new job!! She took Duncan to the vet so she could get more heartworm meds, and to switch his info to her name. She called me saying Duncan gained 1 pound since last year, and was worried he would get fat. I laughed and said I wish I just gained 1 pound last year, and not to worry he probably just needed to poop! lol

Aww that's so nice to know he's in good hands! Plus you can still see him regularly, how cool is that! This woman sounds amazing. I really don't know that I could deal with the stuff she's dealing with.

Claire she is amazing!!! Every minute of her day is scheduled. From tube feeding her son, to changing his diapers, and even brushing Duncan. She brushes him everyday, because she has it scheduled!!!! She always wanted a dog, and had dogs growing up, but with her son she didn't know if she could handle 1. Her neighbor is a good friend of mine, and she was talking about getting a puppy, and my friend said "do you think you can potty train, and train a puppy". Then she was think about getting a older dog, but with all her sons medical equipment she didn't know how the dog would adapt. Then my friend remembered Duncan was a therapy dog, and has been around medical equipment most of his life. Plus Duncan is really laid back! When she puts her son in his wheelchair, Duncan will sit next to him, and lay his big ol head on this boys lap, and you should see the smile on this boys face. Duncan's owner said the Dr's don't think her son understands anything, but she knows he does!!!

I am very proud of Duncan, but I get a little sad when they come to pick him up, and he is so happy to see them, and never looks back. I always put my animals first, and re-homing Duncan seems to be the best situation for him, even though I shed a few tears!

As long as you always remember he would have never been the right dog for them without you having been in his life. As for his not looking back, it's only because he hasn't seen them for a while and is excited. No disrespect intended. He loves you too, ya know.
