Hey, there. Long time, no post. I stumbled on a thread on another forum that raised a question and thought I would come to those in the know for the correct answer. The thread mentions a scandal a few years back where a TB breeder was caught using AI, instead of live cover, with her TB stallion. The end result was the pulling of papers of 4 foals (according to the thread.) Some of the 4 are stallions and at least one in particular was kept intact, inspected by other registries and has gone on to have a productive career in the breeding shed. Here's where the question comes in. The statement was made that this stallion can do anything, any other JC registered stallion can do, except that he cannot produce JC registered offspring. They say that includes racing - that he could race. My question is - could he really race? I thought a horse had to be tattooed to race and to be tattooed, had to be JC registered. ? What say the experts on here? Thank you in advance for any info and Happy Holidays to everyone!

SO the stallion in question was a product of an AI breeding correct? Then no....he can not be registered with the JC and can never race.
