Woo hoo! I applied for and got a new position in my system! Head of Youth Services in one of the busier locations. It's a GREAT step for me, and a huge morale boost. I will be heading a team of excellent librarians. I have applied for three other management positions in this system in the recent past. Didn't get them, and now I feel lucky that this is the one that worked out. It's a better fit for me in every way. And the commute...? 10 minutes. My supervisor...? A horsewoman. And I've worked for her briefly in the past, with no problems.
Wow! I start Jan. 13. Leaving my current position will be the flip side of this. I LOVE my community library and the patrons we serve. I can't think about that right now, though. Too busy bubbling.
PS. Not blasting this on facebook because other job candidates would likely see it. No gloating.
