It makes me cry. I grew up in Africa. It's my home.
Why has nothing changed?

As long as someone profits from this stuff, largely the weapons manufacturers, it will continue. After all, their answer is arm more people, thus more money in their pockets. Fear sells.
Very sad for the loss of innocent life.
The local news is talking some of the militants involved may have been recruited from the USA. Though that makes sense, as in many of the terrorist attacks people attack on foreign soil. Takes out the worry that you might hurt someone you know and may like. Less to worry about, I suppose, and certainly easier then attacking a real military/political target. Cowards, every single one of them.

Wasn't Kenya once known as Rhodesia? It was changed,I think, sometime around the time you lived there.

No, Deb - but not far away.
The Rhodesia I grew up in became split into three separate countries : Zambia, Zimbabwe and Malawi.
I think (occasionally, yes, I do think...)
I think Kenya has been doing a wonderful job as a new democracy. This isn't about black on white, white on black or tribal (Africa's curse). I saw their president, Uhuru Kenyatta on TV.
Well, there's a load of history behind 'Uhuru' and Kenyatta, but the man was believable and seemed sincere.
It's the usual. Islam vs the world. Claire, there are Brits involved, too.
I REALLY do need to say that the ordinary Muslim people that I know are mortified by what is happening.
There was a London/Pakistani lad who worked for me. He was a tall fellow. He ran errands. He took stuff into London, brought things back. He would hop the tube-lines (metro) with his back-pack and do what he was asked to do.
After our London bombings of 7/11, he came to me and said : "I can't do this any more." Every time he stepped into a carriage, the carriage emptied.
I don't think there will ever be an answer.

There will be no answer as long as people want to believe they can be born better or believe better. I believe we are all nuts, just most of us are mostly harmless.
