Had to bite the bullet and invest in a new computer since I could no longer cobble bits together and make anything work. Got me a new HP, with loads of RAM, monster HD and Win8 which seems to be a weird mix of XP, WIn98 and Win3.1, the latter being a good thing since utilities are now easy to find and use; almost like the finally grabbed a clue and took the best of them and made something fairly decent then added odd looking navigation screens and those stupid black blotches that pop out of the sides of the screen if you get the cursor in the wrong place. I do not NEED my screen covered with monster bars and a clock that covers the rest of the available real estate - I HAVE a clock in the room and can look at the top right corner and read the clock on 'puter, thank you very much.
I am also not keen on the 'improved' ergonomic keyboard - the curve is too small although easier than a straight keyboard BUT.I really miss the old design where the keyboard was split and the keys were larger - that reduced typos to almost nothing. Now I get stray letters when I type and always seem to hit CAPS LOCK when I go for an A. I do like the volume control keys though. Oh, and I cannot use the old keyboard as it is a PS2 and this has no PS2 port, just USB slots.
This week, a new modem stick - they have 4G now and that should speed things up more.

Congrads !!!! I always hate/love new stuff. It's not the old stuff that I know how it works but often once I figure out how all the new works I like it better..................if you know what I mean.
