It's been a while:) Hi all.
A friend is trying to find out who her super lovely OTTB really is and asked for some tattoo help. He's a 2001 model, dark bay/black, gelding, probably 16.2, MD bred, raced at Laurel, original purchaser can't remember trainer. He has a couple of white hairs where a star would be. The readable tattoo letters are: E_716_.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi there IBAW (it's been a while). Any pics of the tat? Sometimes that helps. Also a good excuse to use some of the camera's extra features. Such as black and white, sepia, and such. Take a bunch. It helped a lot with Guy's, though it was still hard to tell if the five was a five and not a three. Zen is getting old now, so harder to read, but wow, whoever did his, (actually it was probably the vet that did his last Coggins before I bought him) did a bang up job as it was damn near perfect and easy to read for a very, very long time. If you give the Jockey club two or three, maybe even four options for tattoo digits, they can then narrow it down by sex and color. Good luck and will love to know who your friends horse was before she got him.

I went through about 20 combinations with the missing numbers and have not come up with one from the eat coast yet. If you could find out one more number it would make life a TON easier.

Thanks ladies. I'll see about getting a photo of the tattoo.

Sometimes using a blacklight can make it show up a lot better too.
