Though I positively need some dental work seeing as how I don't remember the last time I went to a dentist and I have a couple of broken teeth and several chipped ones. Growing up my parents could not afford regular dental care for me and my 4 siblings. They let us go to a dentist as our teeth decayed and had to be pulled. Then in my early adult years I could only afford having teeth pulled as they went bad, also. Why I ask is dental care so very expensive?? I am going to push this new dentist I am going to today to pull all my teeth and fit me for dentures. I am expecting to have to pay $2K-$3K for the process to be done. Thankful Heavens, Max and I have the finances to get it all done. It is especially important now that I have had my total knee replacement surgery. The Surgeon who did my knee surgery has prescribed that I take 2000mg of Amoxicillin before any medical or dental work 30 minutes before an invasive procedure to prevent any infection setting up in my knee.
Then my eyesight is failing, because of cataracts. That process has been coming on for several years now. My right eye is worse than my left. Aging is such a difficult process.I have an appointment next week with a medical eye doctor not an optomitrist.

Deb, how is the knee? Compared to how it was before, is the pain and mobility better? Mine is scheduled for Nov 4th, and I have already pushed it back from september. Even though my knees are very painful, I don't want to be in even more pain!!!

I know what you mean Deb, they are so expensive. Brian just had a crown put on and it was $1200. Good luck with it all. Your braver then I am, I hate going for any reason, but to have teeth pulled. Brave, Brave, Brave !!!!!

After the xrays and the Dentist's consult on what I needed done in his terms the procedure was going to cost $6728 . I ask you, "who the devil has $6728 in pocket change"!! Max and I are by no means destitute, but for crying in a bucket that is just flipping outrageous. If I had Dental Insurance, which I don't have it would probably cover about half the cost. There is a Dental/Denture Clinic about a hours drive from us that I'm going to check into to see what they can do on the financial end. Max had his done at that facility several years ago and he has a few problems with his dentures, but at least he doesn't have tooth pain any longer.

Good grief, Deb. You will find a better option, I am sure. But before long we'll be calling you the Bionic Woman!

I'm sorry about all of it, Deb. Not having insurance is so scary. I hope you find a cheaper solution!
