NICE! I don't see a fly mask on Zen...Aren't there bugs out on the trails? If not, you're so lucky! The trails near Charm's barn are off limits in Summer - too many deer flies, horse flies, green heads, gnats, mosquitoes, ticks et al. It's a shame, because they're really nice! I'll try to take pics this Fall.

That's the funny thing Niaru, I had heard the bugs were horrible, blah, blah, blah. Forgot Zen's fly mask, was a little worried about that as he hates bugs on his face, but turns out we must have picked the time when the bugs were largely sleeping during our ride. Ran into a few green heads and deer flies on the way back, but really nothing too bad. Was told the big huge black flies were bad, but didn't see any until I got back to the barn and let him have a roll in the arena. I'm sure if I had ridden later they might have been unbearable. OK and they will likely get worst over as the summer progresses.

How so very much your pictures bring back memories of riding the trails with my Candy. Thank You for sparking those memories for me. Your pictures are awesome.

The pics of Mirkwood make me think of a Harry Potter film.

Love them! Wish there were more trail riding places available around me, there are some, but need a trailer to get there safely - not too keen on riding D across a 4 lane highway lol.

Wish you all could come out for a trail ride. Though I have to admit my favorite rides are alone with my horse. Took a ride around the farm yesterday and in the trees, yup, next time I will have to put a fly mask on him. Even thought the fly spray keeps them from landing, just having them that close buzzing his face... Still, he tried his best to contain himself. Also have learned that I need to get out there and clear the trails a little bit higher where some of the others cleared trails. Can tell where I left off. It's hard having one of the tallest horses at the barn.

Looks like a great ride! Isn't it wonderful when you pretty much have the trail to yourself? Thanks for sharing pics!!

I moved barns a few weeks ago and it sits right next to a city park with a horse trail, yay! It's not that nice, but it's something! I forgot how much fun trail riding can be

Cool Welkin. Kankakee has nice trails, but never really get away from the road noise.

Ha, I just noticed your truck mirrors! Mr. cc did the same thing on our chevy! Does keep them from making unnecessary contact with various side of the road obstacles .
