The 'announcement' is at Standardbred Canada, listed under Racing and select Fines and Suspensions from the dropdown menu. Fines and Suspensions isn't just for fines, it also lists progress on people going for licences (rated miles needed, drives needed). Her notice is about 1/3 the way down the page. I may be wrong but I do believe Marie has the first such licence issued to a woman in Canada. www.standardbredcanada.ca

Cool.
OK, what's the difference between license under saddle and under saddle only?

Zen, Marie is already holds an "A" licence for driving so under saddle was just tacked on to her driver's. There are some older licences for under saddle that were issued to grooms on an as needed basis but I believe Marie is the first in Canada to have the under saddle added. On the other hand, not sure I got this answered
Ok, to clarify my relationship with Squirt.....er Marie: she is the daughter of friends of mine, long ago divorced but, for some odd reason, she chose me as a third person to come to if she was in trouble or if she thought her real mom or dad would 'kill' her for doing something stupid; think 6 year old logic. I did teach her some riding skills and a few other things so I am understandably proud of her.
