Only 500 miles from Calgary and the farthest point of flooding from me was another 40ish miles farther west and the closest point just over 3 hours drive. I used to live in Calgary, raced there and spent a lot of time in the Okotoks/High River/ Longview area.
An interesting few bits from yesterday - the mayor of Calgary issued a call for volunteers and expected maybe 500 people to show up and ended up with thousands willing to give their time. They finally had to put a stop to volunteers when they ran out of release forms. An oilfield supply company took the volunteer thing to new heights - they just went from place to place with super high volume pumps and dug in, clearing area after area of water. I have my suspicions as to who is behind this because the company started here eons ago then expanded and the last local flood, this company cleaned up loads of water.
