Shelby has her first big 3-phase event in about 10 days. I was noticing that a lot of the competitors wore dressage coats and stock ties instead of hunt coats and ratcatchers, so I decided to look into how much it would cost to get them for her. We drove down to the closest tack shop (ugh, 45 minutes away!), They only had a small selection of dressage apparel, since they are in the middle of hunter/jumper country. But lo and behold, they had a brand new $175 dressage coat, close enough to Shelby's size, for $50!! Even with the $40 in alterations it's a bargain. SO of course then she wanted a pair of white breeches. Lo and behold, they had a brand new pair of white full-seats, 28L, for $20!! So we splurged on a new shirt and stock tie, and walked out only $140 poorer.

;D Awesome! Love bargains. Of course, if you had gotten her into bowling..... you'd be an extremely bored mother.

That's super great Thea! WOW! I bet she looks awesome too --good luck keeping her clean in those whites! ( impossible!) but they DO look so nice dressaged up like that. Caroline got one of those "washable" stretch fabric dressage coats this year at Equine Affaire and it was very reasonably priced, so I let her have that for her birthday. She's still wearing the white full seat britches we bought at Rolex that year we met you guys there...remember I found those for $35 and when we went back the next day to find more for Shelby they were all sold out? Well, you just BEAT that price locally! WOW!

This made me go find my dressage coat, which I may have worn once. It fits better now that I have...ahem...grown into it. Navy wool. Middle of the road from State Line Tack. I should pass it along to someone, but maybe someday I can wear it again. It's wonderful because the sleeves are so long! If nothing else, I could take those up an inch and wear it to work with jeans and a turtleneck in the fall.

It is a really good feeling to be able to find a deal, isn't it?
