More random facts. Does anyone remember her?
No, of course not. It's the closest an American has come to being our queen - in the 30's. Instead, he had to abdicate because she was a divorcee.
As a child, my mother would sing : "Hark the Herald angels sing, Mrs Simpson's pinched our king."
I THINK they went on to become friendly with Hitler and Eva Braun ... I'll tell you when the documentary is over.
Oh Niaru - the King's Speech. George never expected to be king. It was only because his brother, Edward, ran off with Wallis.
To this day, George's children - our queen - for instance - they're not nice about Edward and Wallis. I think it's more to do with the Hitler connection. Elizabeth and her sister, Margaret were young girls during The War.

I do remember hearing about her every once in a long while via radio broadcasts and remember hearing about her death - had to look that up but she died in 86 at age 90. I also remember the Duke dying in the early 70s. Apparently Simpson did end up living on a stipend from the Queen after Edward's death despite the bad feelings. Also remember, Edward aliienated the other royal families throughout Europe with his marriage to her, and yes, they apparently were friends of Hitler's and that widened the rift.

Yes, here she is. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wallis,_Duchess_of_Windsor Edward is now known as our Nazi king. However, it was his brother, George who was our real king. Poor George, he never wanted to be king. However, his daughter is doing a good job - despite 'Phil-the-Greek'. We've never liked him. But her grandson and Kate are doing ok!

Hmmm, a bit before my time. Sounds like a lot of supositions mixed in with a bit of fact. Which can only make one wonder which is which? Are we watching documentaries between matches?

'Hark the herald angels sing ...' Of course! We're still upset about the Plantaganets. And as for William the Conqueror - I want A WORD with you, Niaru!
