I plan on entering Basil. It is about a 15 min. haul from my farm! Love that someone is finally holding an all TB show that is not hunters. We are already doing the MDA shows this year and our first one is this sunday. Yes, my 21 yr. old TB is entering his first show ever LOL!

So I did enter only to have to scratch. Basil started feeling NQR after the June show and I had him tested for Lyme. Yep, positive. But even after treatment with minocycline he still was not putting weight back on. And it was more of a muscle loss than weight loss. So I just had him tested for Cushings (or PPID to be correct) and he is positive. Muscle loss can be one of the first symptoms. So he is now on prascend and I will hopefully see improvement in a few weeks.
Back to the show. My trainer did show her OTTB mare Hello Lilly. She was high-score adult rider of the day with a score of 77.77% on her first level musical freestyle!

Sorry about Basil CC. I hope he feels better soon. Lyme in humans is such a pain to get rid of, hopefully in B's case it was caught early enough.

Is there an easy site to find out the TB dressage shows for 2014? I have a TB who will be ready to show next year and I don't know if there is one site that lists all the dressage and jump shows for TBs. Thanks in advance!

Many of next years schedules won't be up until next month or even January.
I know Lamplight arena has had shows that had Thoroughbred and even ExRacehorse specific classes, but not necessarily 'all' Thoroughbred shows. I believe in the last year or so, they have had an ownership/management change, but seem to still be having much the same shows. Now if only they could bring back the Maui Jim 3 Day Event. At this point they don't seem to have next years schedule up yet.

So Tb dressage shows have specific tests just for Tbs? Interesting. I was under the impression that the tests were the same, the only difference being that all horses competing are Tbs. But if there are different tests, I'd like to see them too! I just looked at the "new" 2014 eventing dressage tests on COTH and they really aren't that different than in the past. Boring.  (not that Charm and I are competing, but we spend the winter doing flat work, mostly, so I need stuff to motivate me!) |

I don't think the dressage tests are any different, just a breed specific aspect. Kind of like Quarter Horse shows.
