I don't know how they make it. I've tried replicating it, but mine is never as good. Linguine tossed with a mix of bacon, onions, garlic, peppers, parmesan, black olives, olive oil. It's just fabulous.
I want to read The Scorpio Races!

I think Greek spaghetti is a confusing concept ...
I'd like the 'Tree of Forgetfulness'. Ann, may I fill out a library card? No, I thought not.

I think Greek spaghetti is a confusing concept ... I didn't get to eat these, but we went to a very good fish/seafood restaurant across the river, we hit a "modern mexican" restaurant downtown, and the last night went to a Bistro Belge where I ordered a dish, made a (polite) comment to the (very friendly) waitress as to how my Belgian MIL prepared said dish, and was promptly visited by the Chef...!!!! Oops...But he only wanted to tell me my suggestion was a great one. Phew. I enjoyed the Scorpio Races. I'm surprised it hasn't been made into a movies yet.

Help! I am overwhelmed with books to read! Currently scattered about the house:
The Casual Vacancy (I don't like any of these characters yet.)
Walden on Wheels (about the guy who lived in his van while completing grad school at Duke)
Return of a King (Britain in Afghanistan, 1839-42. Didn't work out so well.)
The End of Your Life Book Club (Nice, but the author better quit showing off his super-wealthy over-achieving family soon.)
Truth Like the Sun (a guy at the library told me to read this--something to do with the World's Fair in Seattle)
And the Mountains Echoed (Khaled Hosseini, I know he won't disappoint, so this may go on vacation with me)
Ashfall (I met the author and asked him to come talk at the library and he said yes. Better get busy reading his books.)

Thanks heavens! I had to re-read the thread to see how we got to 'Greek spaghetti'!!
Niaru, I have family in Belgium, just outside Brussels. My brother-in-law is a chef. "Faugh! I am a cook!" (We still say 'chef'.) I LOVE to visit!

Hmmm. You've 'done' Miss Marple, haven't you? And Tommy and Tuppence. Maybe, if you like the period, it could be Mapp and Lucia. E.F. Benson.

Wow, 69? You've got your "eyes" full!
I've just started "Little Bee" (so I can leave it behind for my in-laws). So far, I really like it.

It's a novel about a young girl from Nigeria, escaping to England. A tragic story, but written in a matter-of-fact, sometimes even funny way.

Let us know what you think of Little Bee when you've finished it. I had issues with this book!

Tell me more, Ann! What issues did you have? I liked it. Provocative, sad book. The ending was a bit frustrating to me, but I expected that, somehow...

I felt the ending was frustrating, mainly because I couldn't believe the characters' motivations were "true," if that can be said of fictional characters!
